Map of the Black Sea with countries around, resorts in Russia and the world. Where is the best place to relax?

You can see on the map above. The sea is located in Europe and belongs to the Atlantic Ocean, with which it is connected by straits and seas.

The chain from the Black Sea to the Atlantic Ocean is as follows: in the southwest of the Black Sea through the Bosphorus the sea is connected to the Sea of Marmara, the Sea of Marmara is connected to the Aegean Sea through the Dardanelles, the Aegean Sea is connected to the Mediterranean, and the Mediterranean Sea is connected to the west through the Strait of Gibraltar connects to the Atlantic Ocean.

One of interesting facts about the past of the Black Sea is that it was a former huge freshwater lake, which in just a few decades (according to various estimates from 1 to 50 years) became a salty sea. This happened as a result of an increase in the level of the world's oceans and the erosion of the barrier between the Sea of Marmara and the then lake, forming the Bosporus Strait.

By the way, why is the Black Sea called black?

According to one version, in ancient times, boats and ships that were in the Black Sea darken and turn black where the wood came into contact with the water. A similar effect is obtained due to hydrogen sulfide, which fills the black sea. When a tree is exposed to hydrogen sulfide, it turns black, people certainly paid attention to this, and I believe this is where the Black Sea got its name.

Hydrogen sulfide in the Black Sea

Hydrogen sulfide, as you probably know, is a colorless gas with the smell of rotten eggs. In large quantities, the gas is poisonous and, of course, it comes out and sometimes quite violently.

This gas, by the way, is flammable! They said that lightning striking the sea where there was a sufficient concentration of this gas ignited.

Hydrogen sulfide is found in large quantities at depths of 100 meters and at the very bottom. Therefore, there are almost no living organisms at depth, and in general in the Black Sea there are several times fewer of them than in the neighboring Mediterranean.

Geographical position The Black Sea is probably known to every resident of our country. Why? The thing is that almost all of us have been to its coast at least once in our lives, or are planning to go there on our next vacation.

A map of the Russian Black Sea shows that our country shares it with Ukraine, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania.

The location, history, climate and characteristic features of this section of the world's oceans will be discussed in this article.

Section 1. General information

If you look at the Black Sea on a world map, you can see that it belongs to the Atlantic Ocean basin and is an inland sea. Its area is approximately 422.0 thousand square meters. km (according to other sources - 436.4 thousand sq. km).

Visually, the sea resembles an oval shape with the longest axis being 1150 km. The maximum length from north to south is 580 km. The average depth is 1240 m, and the greatest depth is 2210 m.

The ports of the Black Sea have a number of advantages, since the waters of this section of the world ocean are connected with the Marmara Strait through the Bosporus Strait, then, through the Dardanelles Strait (Hellespont) - with the Mediterranean and Aegean, and the Kerch Strait - with the Azov Sea.

The border line between Europe and the Crimean peninsula juts deep into the northern part of the sea runs through its waters.

Its waters wash the territories of several states at once: Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Romania, Turkey and Bulgaria. In the northeast coast is the partially recognized state of Abkhazia.

The sea basin has a rare property. Its lower layers are filled with hydrogen sulfide, which is why at a depth of over 150 m there is a complete absence of life (with the exception of certain types of bacteria).

The geographical location of the Black Sea is very favorable. Why? The thing is that it has the most important economic, transport, strategic and military significance, and also belongs to the largest recreational zones in Eurasia. The main military bases of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are concentrated in the ports of Sevastopol and Novorossiysk.

Section 2. History of the Black Sea

Photos of the Black Sea, as a rule, attract attention, captivating with their beauty and certain limitlessness. But what do we really know about him?

First of all, it is impossible not to mention that this is a relatively young sea, which has an unformed ecosystem that continues to develop: the water level changes, new representatives of flora and fauna appear, and some disappear.

In the past, which was about 8 thousand years ago, this sea was actually a lake. Its biosystem is highly susceptible to external influences - the influence of climate or humans. Despite the fact that it is much smaller than the ocean and life in it is less diverse, the Black Sea coast and its ecology are of interest to scientists.

Section 3. What is the climate of the element?

The climate of the Black Sea region is due to its mid-continental location and is mainly of the continental type. This region is characterized by warm, wet winters and dry summers. and the Caucasian coast are protected from the winds by mountains, giving it a Mediterranean subtropical climate.

The geographical location of the Black Sea is such that weather conditions are significantly influenced by Atlantic cyclones, which bring storms and cold temperatures. Winds from the southwest usually bring humid Mediterranean air masses.

In January, in the north the average temperature reaches +2°C, but temperatures can drop to -5°C, and snow falls periodically. It is much warmer in the south and the Caucasus. It rarely drops below +5°C here.

July air temperature in the north of the sea averages +25 -+27 °C. Thanks to the sea, the air temperature usually does not rise above 37°C.

The warmest corner of the Black Sea region is the Caucasus coast, where the average is +17°C per year. The Caucasian coast receives the most precipitation (1500 mm per year), with the least in the north-west (up to 300 mm per year).

The Black Sea is not subject to freezing; the water does not cool below +8 °C.

Section 4. Local flora and fauna

Have you ever wondered what kind of organisms inhabit the Black Sea? The characteristics show that the flora of the Black Sea consists of more than 260 species of green, red bottom and brown algae: Cladophora, Ulva, Cystoseira, Zoster, etc.

The phytoplankton of the sea includes about 600 species, among which are diatoms and representatives of dinoflagellates (Dinophysis, Alexandrium, Protoperidinium).

The fauna is less diverse compared to, for example, the Mediterranean. In the waters of this sea 2,500 species of animals live, including 160 species of mammals and fish, up to 500 protozoa, 500 crustaceans, 200 mollusks, as well as other invertebrates. In the Mediterranean today there are approximately 9,000 species.

At the bottom of the sea, oysters and mussels, predator mollusks of rapana found refuge. Among the coastal rocks and stones you can find crabs, jellyfish, shrimp, sea anemones and sponges.

The small number of fauna is affected by the salinity and temperature of the water, as well as the formation of hydrogen sulfide at depths. However, the sea waters are suitable for the existence of unpretentious species that do not require depth.

Section 5. What kind of resorts are located on the Black Sea?

Russian resorts are located in the Krasnodar region. The most popular of them are Sochi, Anapa, Gelendzhik and Tuapse. Built here the best sanatoriums and boarding houses.

The following resorts are located on the Crimean peninsula: Evpatoria, Alushta, Yalta, Sudak, Feodosiya, Chernomorskoe and Sokolinoe. A piece of paradise for recreation are the health resorts of Abkhazia. One of the major tourist centers of Ukraine is Odessa, which has become one of the last years a real pearl by the sea.

Sochi

Have you decided to go to the Black Sea? Reviews from travelers unanimously state that it is really impossible not to visit here, and there are actually many prerequisites for this.

First of all, we note that Sochi is the southernmost and warmest resort in Russia. And it is here, on the coast, that dozens of boarding houses and sanatoriums are located.

The beach season in Sochi lasts from May to mid-October. The weather is sunny 300 days a year. Favorable mineral springs and mud have a healing and healing effect on humans. The sanatoriums welcome visitors throughout the year.

The nature of this region is unique and inimitable: mountain gorges with wild rivers, waterfalls and caves, cold lakes, impenetrable forests and high-mountain ski slopes. These places attract lovers active rest and extreme.

Sochi is famous not only for its beach holidays, but also for its cultural attractions. There are many museums, theaters, entertainment centers, restaurants and nightclubs.

Yalta

One of the most famous resort cities of Crimea is Yalta. In addition, he is one of the most beautiful cities peace.

This is a modern resort in an amazing place called the Black Sea. The map shows that the beaches here are actually huge, 72 km long.

The city is considered the capital of all Crimean resorts and an important administrative, cultural and tourist center on the southern coast of Crimea.

The abundance of sun and vegetation, warm sea and sand, clean air, mountains and a huge number of attractions create favorable conditions for relaxation and recovery.

Abkhazia

In fact, it seems that God himself created these places for man to rest. The beach season lasts from May to October and you can enjoy the sun 220 days a year.

Sea water is low in salt, clear and ideal for swimming. Tourist Abkhazia is home to hospitable people, luxurious nature and many historical monuments.

Guests can take excursions to the waterfalls, mineral springs and Lake Ritsa, karst caves and ruins ancient city. Famous resorts regions - Pitsunda, Gagra, Sukhum and Gudauta.

The tourism industry of Abkhazia is developing rapidly: old boarding houses have been renovated and new comfortable hotels have been built, there are many restaurants and entertainment centers on the streets. One of the popular resort places is the city of Pitsunda, which is surrounded by pine forests, which create a special microclimate with a healing pine aroma.

It is fresh and cool here even in hot weather. All boarding houses are located in a picturesque bay near the sea.

Section 6. Movement of water in the Black Sea

It is believed that the Black Sea ports have many advantages. Let's explain why. Usually this part of the world's oceans is quiet and calm. Waves appear in windy weather, most often in winter. Their height can reach 15 m, which is dangerous only for small ships. The ebb and flow of the tides does not exceed 10 cm and is almost invisible.

In general, there are two types of currents in the sea - surface and double. The former are caused by cyclonic winds, while the latter are formed in the Bosphorus and Kerch Straits and are caused by the difference in water density in the two basins.

Surface flows form two closed rings. The western ring narrows to the south and is approximately 100 km wide opposite the Danube delta. The speed of this current is almost 0.5 km/h. The Eastern Ring reaches 50-100 km and has a speed of up to 1 km/h.

The double current in the Bosphorus arises due to water exchange between the Black and Marmara seas. The lighter and less salty water of the Black Sea flows into the Marmara Sea at a speed of up to 2 km, and in return receives the saltier water of the Marmara Sea downstream.

Another double current is formed between the Black and Azov seas. At the same time, the desalinated water of the Azov Sea flows upstream into the Black Sea, receiving in return more salty water.

In addition to horizontal currents, there are vertical ones, limited by the upper layers of water (up to 80 m).

Section 7. Sea threats: winds and fogs

The geographical position of the Black Sea clearly indicates that fogs occur over the coast or coastal areas mainly in the cold season. When cold sea air invades land, fog forms over the sea near the coast.

On the coast it usually appears in the spring. The greatest fog is observed in winter, especially in the Bosphorus Strait (up to 80 days a year). However, there are prolonged fogs. For example, in winter in Odessa they last up to 10 days. Photos of the Black Sea taken in such weather are particularly romantic and mysterious.

The strength and speed of the wind at sea is greater than on the coast. When cyclones appear over the sea, moist air becomes vertically unstable, forming vortex winds and tornadoes, dangerous for small ships. Wind speed in winter reaches from 3 to 40 m/sec. Sometimes there are storms. Night winds bring coolness to the coast.

Section 8. Why are Black Sea currents dangerous?

However, the Black Sea can also be treacherous and merciless; the characteristics of this part of the world's oceans clearly indicate the existence of a changeable current here, directed counterclockwise along the entire perimeter.

The current forms two rings called “Knipovich glasses” (in honor of the hydrologist who described this phenomenon). The speed of movement depends on the rotation of the Earth. Also, the change in current is influenced by the force and Sometimes eddies appear in coastal zones directed against the main current (anticyclonic gyres).

The movement of upper alongshore currents is variable and determined by the wind. One of these currents is called a draft, which forms during a storm. Waves rushing onto the shore retreat in powerful streams along the channels formed on the sandy bottom. Such currents are very dangerous for people and can carry them far from the shore. To get out of them, you need to swim to the shore not in a straight line, but diagonally.

Section 9. Why is the sea rough? Ancient legend

The Black Sea is clearly visible on the world map, even on the most ancient one. That is why, apparently, they have known about him for quite a long time, creating myths and retelling epics. And here is one of them.

In ancient times there lived one brave hero, about whose bravery legends were written. One day, an old magician decided to give him a magic arrow, whose magical power depended on the person’s intentions. If it fell into the hands of a villain, it could bring a lot of misfortune on earth. The hero never used it unnecessarily and for selfish purposes. Having grown old, he began to look for a person who could be trusted with an arrow. But only a worthy owner could reveal her secret.

Then the hero decided to hide the weapon in the Black Sea and asked his sons to take her to the very middle of it. He knew that they would not carry out his order the first time, and he sent them again. The sons fulfilled the will of their father and lowered the arrow to the bottom of the sea. This angered the sea, it began to make noise and to this day is trying to throw the arrow ashore.

Section 10. Is the Black Sea getting warmer?

Can you tell exactly where the Black Sea is? The map shows that it should be considered the southernmost maritime border of our state. And, of course, it is also the warmest. However, there is an opinion that the temperature there is gradually increasing. Is it really?

The Black Sea (the Krasnodar Territory is taken as the basis for the study) is filled with hydrogen sulfide, which means that only coastal and surface layers of water are suitable for life. By the way, because of this it is one of the most sparsely inhabited seas in the world.

Also, the sea ecosystem is negatively affected by global warming, which has led to increased air temperatures in winter and incomplete cooling of the upper layers of the sea. And this, in turn, complicates the process of vertical rotation of the upper layers of water to depth to maintain the boundaries of hydrogen sulfide.

Warming has led to the fact that the hydrogen sulfide zone has risen to the surface of the sea by almost 12 meters and these waters have become lifeless. The volume of water enriched with oxygen continues to decrease, which raises concerns among environmentalists. This means the Black Sea, whose coordinates are 43°17′49″ N. w. 34°01′46″ E. Most likely, it will continue to warm up.

Map of the Black Sea coast Krasnodar region detailed with villages- in this article. Last summer, our whole family decided to take a short trip to the Krasnodar region. Before this, we had already been to the south of our country and, instead of going to a separate resort, we decided to travel along the entire coast. After all, the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory on the coast map from Anapa to Adler stretch for 356 kilometers and number in dozens. Moving from one locality to another takes on average from several minutes to an hour. Thus, you can visit many resorts, staying in each from 1 to 3 days.

Abrau-Durso

The next point was a resort village. We got there in less than an hour and arrived early in the morning. We planned to spend only one day here. Stayed at guest house“Chocolate” in the village of Durso right on the seashore. Abrau-Durso itself is located on the shore of Lake Abrau a few kilometers from coastline, and the village of Durso is right on the shore. There are several beaches here, including small estuaries that warm up quickly and are ideal for children to swim. In the morning we swam on the central beach of Durso. The beach is pebble, wide and has developed infrastructure. In the afternoon, leaving the car at the guest house, we called a taxi and went to the very center of wine tourism in our country - the Abrau-Durso sparkling wine factory.

This is a truly unique place, which was founded by Count Golitsyn at the end of the 19th century. Here they show huge areas with vineyards and talk about the art of growing grapes for the production of sparkling wines. We looked at the production process; relatively recently it was completely modernized under the strict guidance of Moet Chandon specialists. Perhaps that is why ordinary Abrau Durso champagne is no different from the legendary French one. We visited huge cellars with wine storage facilities and a tasting. In the company store you can purchase products at factory prices, and some rare vintage types of champagne can only be bought here.

In the evening we walked along the embankment of Lake Abrau - one of the best embankments in the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory on the map of the coast. The embankment is made of colored paving stones, with many flower beds and lawns and a rich infrastructure. We rented a boat on the embankment and rode along the shore for an hour. After dinner in one of the cafes, we returned to the village of Durso to our guest house by taxi so that we could go to the next city early in the morning. Helped us plan our route detailed map Krasnodar Territory - Black Sea coast.

Detailed map of the Resorts of the Krasnodar Territory: Gelendzhik and Divnomorskoye

The next morning we went to the city located in Greater Gelendzhik. The distance between them on the detailed map of the Resorts of the Krasnodar Territory is only 10 kilometers. Therefore, we decided to stay in Divnomorskoye, since the sea water here is the cleanest, and in the afternoon after lunch you can go there for entertainment and sightseeing.

A detailed map of the Resorts of the Krasnodar Territory helped us get to Divnomorskoe. We arrived there early in the morning and stayed at the Alpina guest house, the cost of the room was 2300 rubles. for four people in June, although we had to bargain a little. The beach is very nice and well maintained, there is a lot of entertainment for both children and adults. Children happily rode on inflatable slides and miniature electric cars that can be rented on the chic embankment. I took a ride on a jet ski, after which, after having lunch in one of the cozy cafes, we went to Gelendzhik to the safari park.

The Safari Park is located right at the foot of the mountain slope, the route along the sea runs near it. At the entrance, we immediately purchased tickets not only to the safari park, but also to cable car to climb to the very top, to the observation deck and visit the terrarium with reptiles. Not only the children, but also us adults liked the safari park. It is very well maintained, and the number of rare animals and especially predators is simply amazing.

There are also areas fenced off with durable plexiglass, behind which there are shooting ranges a few meters away. There are also pumas, leopards, jaguars, grizzly and Himalayan bears, ostriches and wild boars, monkeys. At the entrance you can buy dried fruits to feed the animals. The most notorious “beggars” were bears. They stand on their hind legs and tirelessly “beg” for a treat. Many people buy them ice cream, for which the animals were very grateful.

The views from the observation deck are magnificent, and Gelendzhik Bay, like the city itself, looks clear in full view.

After visiting the safari park, we decided to take a yacht ride. We had a choice: ride on a private sailboat or on a large yacht with a group. We decided to take a ride on a large yacht, where there is an entertainment program during the boat trip, and tickets are cheaper. The two-hour walk from the bay to the open sea is very fun; on the way back you can watch the red sunset and take wonderful photographs as a souvenir. We decided to spend the evening on the Gelendzhik embankment. This is the busiest place on the entire coast. There are dozens, if not hundreds of different cafes, restaurants, clubs and discos. You can walk until late in the evening, as the embankment is the longest and most beautiful. Its length is about 10 kilometers, with many flower beds, lawns, and decorative figures. We had dinner with the whole family at an excellent restaurant on the territory of the Primorye Hotel, after which we visited the amusement park on the embankment next to the stadium. After walking a little more to the steep cliff “Krucha”, which is as high as a 16-story building, we decided to return to Divnomorskoye to our guest house, since the next day we had to go to the largest water park in Russia.

The next day, while everyone was sleeping, I went to the beach and swam in the clear sea. After that, at around ten o’clock in the morning we went to Gelendzhik to the Zolotaya Bukhta water park. The water park is really cool. On an area of 17 hectares there are 17 swimming pools, 69 slopes, 49 slides, about 10 water attractions, many bars, cafes, and pizzerias. Ticket price is 1,400 rubles for adults, 650 rubles for children. Free entry only for children whose height does not exceed 106 cm.

While we were in Divnomorskoye and Gelendzhik, we visited the Old Park in , and took a ride in an SUV to the dolmen valley. If we had not had children with us, then of course we could have visited one of the most famous and largest clubs in Russia, “Formula,” but we could not do this. Having stayed in this place for 4 days, we moved on. We studied the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory on a map of the coast, and chose the village of Loo.

Loo

We got from Gelendzhik to about an hour and a half and stayed at the mini-hotel “Dolce Gusto”. The hotel is located near the sea. We rested on the central beach of the village, which is about 150 meters wide. The infrastructure is well developed here, with many water attractions and entertainment for children. They rode electric cars along the embankment, jumped on trampolines and played on inflatable towns. My wife and I took turns riding a banana, which the organizers dragged on a jet ski at high speed along the beach. The sea water at this resort is very clean and swimming in it is a pleasure. Before lunch we rested and relaxed on the beach, and after that, after having a snack, we went to see something in the village or the surrounding area. We visited the ruins of an ancient Byzantine temple, which is located on the territory of the village, 33 waterfalls, and rode horses in the valley of the Ashe River. The whole family ate in cafes and canteens, of which there are a huge number, the average bill for four was no more than 600 rubles. After resting in this place for 3 days, we went further in the direction of the southeast Black Sea coast. A detailed map of the Krasnodar Territory and the Black Sea coast helped lay out the route.

Dagomys, Sochi, Adler

These resorts of the Krasnodar Territory have no boundaries on the coast map. The private sector has grown so much that, in fact, it all constitutes one settlement in Greater Sochi. To save on accommodation, we rented a two-room apartment in advance for 2,000 rubles per day in . The apartment had a kitchen, so we decided to cook ourselves.

We had a car at hand, so we could go to any beach we liked, and after lunch go to any attraction. During our week in this part of Greater Sochi, we relaxed on the wide pebble beaches of Dagomys and Riviera Beach in Central Sochi. At first we only went to the Riviera, but due to huge traffic jams in Sochi, we preferred the central beach of Dagomys. The situation is the same on all beaches in Greater Sochi. There are many attractions here, the infrastructure is well developed and in most cases the width of the beaches is 20-30 meters.

During the week we visited an amusement park in Adler, an aquarium in Adler, and the Olympic village. We got to these places public transport, by train. They run frequently and this is the only way to avoid Sochi traffic jams during the daytime. I went rafting alone, taking a tour. Overcame several rapids along the Mzymta mountain river. We visited the Sochi Sky Park with many attractions, here is the most high point for jumbo jumping. We walked across the longest suspension bridge in the world, and it was an unforgettable experience. We went to the mountains nearby. From here you not only have wonderful views of the sea and Mountain peaks, but there are also ancient tea houses where you can taste various types of tea from the herbs of the Caucasian foothills, and many varieties of honey collected from local apiaries.

The excursion to Abkhazia deserves special mention. We bought a one-day excursion and visited all the main cities of this republic. The route includes a visit to Gagra, Pitsunda, the Athos Monastery, a mountain cave next to the monastery, mountain lake Ritsa, Stalin’s dacha and travel through many mountain gorges, including a ride along the edge of a cliff at an altitude of several hundred meters called “Farewell to the Motherland.” To plot the route further, I needed a map of the Krasnodar Territory with cities on the Black Sea coast.

Lermontovo

The next resort of the Krasnodar Territory on the coast map was Lermontovo. We only had a few days left and, having left Dagomys early in the morning, in order to avoid traffic jams on the highway, we drove back in the direction big land. An hour and a half later we were in a resort village, not far from the M-4 Don highway. Lermontovo is one of the very first and very comfortable villages on the Black Sea coast, which vacationers find after making their way to the sea along the M-4 Don highway. On the contrary, we decided to stop here and spend our last day at sea. We stayed in a very nice guest house called “Edem”. A room for four people, standard category, cost 2,000 rubles in June. The living conditions here are quite comfortable, but the most important thing for us was to get a cozy and quiet place to spend the night, since the most important activity on the last day of our stay at sea was relaxing on the beach. The embankment and beach in Lermontovo fully correspond to the basics of aesthetic and calm beach holiday. The infrastructure is very well developed here and there is a lot of entertainment. First of all, this is the Chernomor water park, horseback riding tours, quad biking, a visit to the African village of Lim-po-po, and a trip to the Tengin waterfalls. We just spent time on an excellent, sandy beach and were completely satisfied with the time we spent on the Black Sea coast.

Krasnodar region is a part of the Russian Federation, which is famous and popular for its resorts. Basically, people come here to relax from mid-May to the end of September. There are about 420 sanatoriums that offer their services. The main seaside resorts on the Black Sea coast include Sochi, Anapa and Gelendzhik.

Connected to the Aegean Sea. The Black Sea washes several states at once, in each of which it becomes a popular recreational object. The coast appears to be a high-quality resort area with a variety of recreational options.

Geographical location of the Black Sea

The Black Sea washes the coast of Russia, and its waters also belong to six other states. In each country, a considerable number of tourists go to the sea, wanting to sunbathe and swim in warm sea water. The best time to relax here is from the end of May to the beginning of October, when the water temperature exceeds 20 degrees and sunny weather promotes tanning. The geographical location is good not only from the point of view of recreation, it has important economic, transport and military significance.

The shape of the Black Sea resembles an oval.

The greatest length from coast to coast along the axis is 1,150 km, the greatest depth is 2,210 m. This makes the sea in demand for deep-sea diving enthusiasts. The Crimean Peninsula is located in the northern part of the Black Sea. The sea separates the European and Asian parts of the continent. Interesting feature there is a lack of islands.

The Black Sea had many names, it was called Russian, in total more than 20 names are known. There are several versions of the appearance of the modern name; each culture adheres to its own versions. According to one version, the north on maps was previously marked as black, and the Black Sea is located just in the north. Another gloomy version connects the name of the object with the history of its appearance - in its modern form, the Black Sea was formed 7,500 years ago, with the formation of a connection with the Mediterranean Sea, salty water entered it sea water.
