History of Korotchaevo

Founded in 1977 during the construction of the Urengoy railway as a village at the Urengoy station (since 1982 - Korotchaevo station). The clearing for the railway and the place for the future village were prepared by the Komsomolsk construction and installation train No. 522, headed by N.P. Dorovskikh. On December 28, 1980, the team of Hero of Socialist Labor V.V. Molozin (SMP-522) laid the last link of the highway - Surgut - Urengoy, and at the station. The first train arrived in Urengoy.

In 1982, the urban-type settlement of Korotchaevo was officially registered as part of the Purovsky district. The name of the settlement was given in honor of the head of the Tyumenstroyput construction department. In 1983, the village was transferred to the administrative subordination of the Novy Urengoy City Council. In 2004, Korotchaevo became part of the city of Novy Urengoy.

The Urengoy river port is located in Korotchaevo.

Korotchaevo- a former urban-type settlement in the Purovsky district of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. At this moment, microdistrict of the city of Novy Urengoy.

The microdistrict is located near the left bank of the Pur River opposite the confluence of the Gromadny Khadyryakh River and not far from the confluence of the Yamsovey River. Located on the Gubkinsky - Novy Urengoy highway, before the fork railways(eastern branch to Urengoy, western branch to Novy Urengoy).

The village is named after Dmitry Ivanovich Korotchaev, a hero of socialist labor.

On December 20, 1982, it received the status of a village within the Purovsky district. On August 23, 1983, it was transferred to administrative subordination to the Novy Urengoy City Council.

In accordance with the law of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug No. 107-ZAO dated December 16, 2004, the villages of Korotchaevo and Limbayakha ceased to exist as administrative-territorial units and became part of the city of Novy Urengoy.

Korotchaevo station (formerly Urengoy) is the largest railway station in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, and also a border zone.
