Reviews:

It is better not to go there on weekends and Chinese holidays - there are too many people.
Many luxury hotels
Many people consider the beach and sea too dirty, but you just need to avoid going there on weekends and immediately after them, as well as in the evenings.

Beach on the weekend

Shenzhen is little known to tourists, so today we’ll tell you where to go, what to see and what to do in this beautiful, green and modern city in southern China. Our walk will be in photographs, so that after looking at them, you can decide for yourself whether you should go to a certain place or take an alternative route. I hope this list interesting places, will be useful to you when you find yourself here for the first time and plan a tour of the city, and to truly get to know this metropolis, I suggest you meet local Chinese or foreigners who will show you one of the best cities to live from their side.

Attractions

Let's start with the attractions; there are several dozen of them collected in one place. If you've dreamed of looking at the Egyptian Pyramids or the Eiffel Tower, then you don't have to go to Africa or Europe - with the Chinese passion for copying and the good quality of these copies, you can see this and more than a dozen dozen famous tourist symbols in the Window of the World the World). Reproductions are made in the ratio of 1:1, 1:5 and 1:15, the entrance fee is 160 yuan. This will probably seem like an expensive pleasure to many, but the price is the same for both Chinese and foreigners. Official WOTW website.

Good to know: you can reschedule your visit to Window of the World for the evening to save money; after 18:30 the entrance fee is reduced to 60 yuan. The park is open until 21:00 (until 22:00 on holidays and weekends), the nearest metro station is 世界之窗 (1st, green line).

A little east of the Window on the World there is another theme park called Splendid China Folk Village - the life, culture and traditions of various Chinese nationalities are presented there. Here you can visit the only one in southern China and the Terracotta Army ( as part of Chinese cultural heritage ). A walk through one of these parks should take at least a couple of hours. The entrance fee is also quite high - 150 yuan.

Some locals will tell you that these places are not worth visiting at all, if you want to listen to them, then let's move on to alternative options ( we ourselves someday for sure).

Art Quarter

You can get off at the same metro stop where Folk Village is located (green line, Qiaocheng East station) and go towards contemporary art. We go west from exit A and turn north at the Konka plant.

You can't miss the art quarter called OCT LOFT ( Overseas Chinese Town and despite the station of the same name from Qiaocheng East to the loft it’s closer to go). Like, in this area you can find galleries and shops with art goods. There are exhibitions, concerts in B10 and sometimes.

Even if there are no incredible sights here, it’s worth coming and wandering around - a very cozy area, you can also have a snack, many recommend Cafe Idutang(not far from the entrance), we can agree: the pizza is good, the Thai dishes are wonderful ( I want to devour tom yam in pans) and it is better to get to this cafe during lunch hours (11:30 - 14:30), when you will be served a whole set of two dishes and a drink, from 52 yuan.

Another alternative to attractions could be OCT Bay quarter(there are also several galleries and restaurants). To get to this wonderful recreation area, you just need to go not to the north of the metro, but to the south. Past the fence behind which Splendid China is located, through the courtyards you will reach this oval building with fountains.

There is also a tourist center where you can get a city map for free. It’s nice to walk here, it’s quiet, the illuminated buildings are pleasing to the eye in the evening, there are popular places for club lovers, and on the bay you can watch a laser show with fountains - very colorful and, again, you can do it for free.

Ride a bike along the embankment

If the weather is sunny ( which happens often), then a great continuation of the day would be: take a bike and ride along the embankment with a view.

If you have a bicycle in Shenzhen, your happiness level will clearly be higher than that of an ordinary person without a bicycle.

Shenzhen has many dedicated lanes for cyclists, and you can always see city dwellers commuting to work or spending their day off on two wheels.

Tip: A couple of places where you can rent a bike. In the Mangrove Seaside Ecology Park you can go out to the embankment and rent not only a regular bicycle, but also a tandem for two or three people to ride around with the whole family.

You can get to this park by going even further south from OCT Bay or by taking a direct road south from the same Qiaocheng East metro station ( if you still don’t get ready for OCT).

Take a look at how much it costs to rent a bike, for example, a regular bike is 20 yuan per hour, and the longer, the lower the cost per hour of rental.

You need to leave your passport and 200 yuan as a deposit; upon return of the bike, everything will be returned to you and the rented funds will be deducted.

Simpler and cheaper bicycles can be found, for example, between Baishizhou (Line 1) and Hongshuwan stations. From BSZ south along the street you can find a lot of delicious street food, at the Baishi Road intersection you can rent a bike for only 5 yuan per hour (you don’t even need to leave your passport, only 200 or 300 yuan as a deposit). Taking it, you can go further south, past Hongshuwan station (orange line) and get to the same Mangrove Citic Bay embankment, watch birds there and have a picnic.

Dinner in a skyscraper

In the evening you can go for dinner at most tall skyscraper cities- KK100. On the 99th floor, have a pizza and walk along the observation decks, enjoying the views of Shenzhen at night. look at some photos. The nearest metro station is Grand Theater, exit B.

Relax in the sauna. Massage and spa treatments

After a snack, it’s time for water and relaxing treatments. Where do we go if suddenly the hotel room is not booked, there are no friends and acquaintances in the city, and we, as foreigners, are not allowed into cheap hotels? - Right, to the bathhouse!

And this is not the only time when we go there, about all the advantages Chinese baths, with prices and photographs, we wrote in the article: . There are many good saunas in the city (we only go to this one for now) with a different set of services included in the price of a 24-hour stay.

Science Museum

In the same area, very close to Carnival and Kingkey100, there is a fascinating, Science Museum(Science Museum metro station). You can get there for free, inside you will find several floors with interactive exhibits that show us various physical phenomena, the main thing is that you can press a button almost anywhere and something will definitely happen.

On the lower floor you can feel like a master of the elements and create a tornado, albeit in miniature. And on the top floor there is a great game where you can upgrade your telekinesis skill and move the ball with the power of thought. You need to play together; whoever sends the ball to your opponent wins the fight. The tension is serious!

Shopping. Radio market and cheap clothes

Who hasn't heard that Shenzhen is full of LED products, measuring equipment, computers, cheap iPhones and other high-tech products? We're going to the largest electronics market in the city - Huaqiangbei(Huaqiangbei, 华强北). You can get to the market from the metro station of the same name on the orange line and Huaqiang Road station on the green line.

Here you can buy a lot of garlands for yourself New Year, build your own iPhone and a new supercomputer. In general, anyone interested in gadgets, wearables, new technologies, cheap copies and components for their electronic devices will find it incredibly interesting here. There you can find a cargo company, which will help you deliver your goods from China to Russia.

When it comes to cheap clothes, it's worth heading to the area Eastern Gate(Dongmen), the nearest subway station is Laojie on the Green Line. Here you will not only find a huge clothing market, but you can also have a delicious snack on street food, of which there is a lot here.

Important to remember: Be careful and watch your pockets, and most importantly, do not forget to actively bargain for things, even if the price tag is hanging on the product, very often this is not the final price!

Clubs, bars and parties

There is a place where crowds of immigrants from other countries gather, as well as the Chinese elite - this is bar street at Coco Park(Shopping Park metro station, exit C). There is no shortage of foreigners in several pubs, taverns and local clubs, and if you want to indulge like in Europe, then you should probably head straight here on a Friday or Saturday evening. I am sure that many Russian-speaking people can be met at the Vodka bar (in the Shekou area, nearest Shuiwan metro station).

If parties until the morning do not appeal to you, you are tired during the day and just want to relax, then one of the options for cheap accommodation in Shenzhen is Youth Hostel, which is located in OCT LOFT, a dorm bed there costs 75 yuan. Another accommodation option that we always recommend to travelers is couchsurfing, which has more than once helped us meet interesting people, attend interesting events, and generally changed our lives dramatically.

Gourmet note: at the exit from the subway there is a small Tamayaki cafe, where for 12-15 yuan you can buy 4 hot, fried balls with different fillings, very tasty! From the Shopping Park station to the Convention & Exhibition Center you can walk along the underground passage - shopping center Link City. There are shops selling household goods, and there are also plenty of restaurants where you can have a tasty snack.

Leisure. Hiking in the mountains

Shenzhen is great choice for those who like to climb rough terrain ( although it’s difficult to find a place here where no Chinese has set foot), it is full of hills, hills and higher mountains. The most high mountain in the surrounding area - Wutong (梧桐山) is located in Luohu District. You can get there by bus, and on the weekends it can be a very nerve-wracking adventure when you're sharing the bus with hundreds of others wanting to climb the mountain.

Bus number 211 departs from the same Laojie metro station (you need to cross the road), and you can walk from the final stop to the foot of the mountain. The climb, although not the steepest, is long, several hours up the asphalt road and you will find yourself on Maly Vuton. The highest peak is still a few hours away.

There are a lot of mountains in the city and its surroundings (for example, Nanshan, marked), so it won’t be boring; some of our friends organize hikes to all the local peaks every weekend, if the weather permits.

Relax in the park

Many people love Shenzhen for its greenery throughout the year, trees, grass, pruned bushes... Where else can one enjoy all the harmony of organizing space for leisure, if not in parks. There are a lot of them here and you should probably choose the one that is closer to your place of residence.

For example, let's take Lianhuashan Park (莲花山公园). You can depart from Lianhua North Station on the Red Line subway. Here you can combine an active walk and relaxation; if you climb to the top of the mountain to the statue of Deng Xiaoping, you will see a wonderful view of the city. A few photographs and views can be gleaned.

If you wanted to go to Holland, welcome to the flower alley. The park is small, it is located north of Daxin Station (Qiánhǎihuāhuì, 前海花卉公园), there are several cafes and a flower market on the cozy streets.

Not far to the east of Taoyuan MRT there is a large park called Lixiang (荔香公园). There are no photographs, it somehow reminded Lianhuashan in its design, it is also quite suitable for picnics and a break from the bustle of the city.

The best beaches in the city

What is travel and life without a trip to the sea? The beaches here are also available and are subjectively better than in the north or in Beihai. From Luohu it is the closest to the sea; buses are suitable for traveling there - double-decker number 1 will take you directly to the huge Dameisha Beach (大梅沙). You can board the bus at the Grand Theater metro stop, the price is 10 yuan, and you can enter the beach for free.

Although many say that it is too crowded and the electronic accounting system can show that 3-5 thousand people are on the beach at the same time, it does not feel at all that vacationers are lying on top of each other ( like on some beaches in southern Russia) and cannot find a place to lay out their bedding.

You might want to go to a more remote beach - it's called Xichong, it's also very popular with local residents, jump on the E11 bus from the Grand Theater or take it from Shenzhen North station ( if we want to be sure to sit in a chair the whole way) at the intersection of the red and purple branches. A couple of stops outside Dapeng, plus a taxi for 10 yuan per person ( or hitchhiking) and you are already in Sichon, the entrance to which costs another 13 yuan.

Conclusion

It is impossible to put everything into one article; For someone who came for the first time, it’s definitely enough. If you stay in Shenzhen longer, then you will probably find the sites where city events are published useful: shenzhenstuff.com, shenzhenparty.com and of course - you can publish an event on our website by sending us information about it via or by personal message at

Everyone who comes to Shenzhen tries to find time to visit the famous beaches of this city. Coastline It’s long there - 230 km, so there are many recreation areas. However, the most attractive are Da Mei Sha (大梅沙) and Xiao Mei Sha (小梅沙). They were chosen by the Russians who had been living in Shenzhen for a long time.

But even between these beaches located close to each other, there is an unspoken competition, in which Da Mei Sha usually wins. These are two kilometers of golden sand washed by azure water, coconut palms, mountains on three sides and sculptures - symbols of happiness. The beauty here is truly fabulous. Well, there is also a plus - the beach is free, which is important for travelers. Of course, you have to pay for something, but these are additional pleasures that come with natural beauty: soaring over the sea on a parachute, prancing across the sand on a horse, etc. However, it’s very pleasant to simply lie on the fine gentle sand for free, admiring the picturesque picture. In addition, it is in this area that the Overseas Chinese Town East is located, which includes two parks - Ecoventure Valley and Tea Stream Resort Valley. How poetic the Chinese can be - after hearing such names, it is simply impossible to refuse a walk in at least one park. Moreover, it is so beautiful there that you always want to take photos of Shenzhen so that you can look at them at home and remember the trip. Waterfall, forest, Swiss village, breweries, ancient city tea, a golf course... That's for sure - there are no limits to the imagination of the park's creators. Naturally, there are also cafes where you can sit and enjoy oriental delicacies.

Russians living in Shenzhen, who have long chosen this beach, recommend taking at least a large towel and flip flops with you - the sand there is very hot, so you will still have to buy it. Umbrellas, which can be rented for 40 yuan, help a little, but you will need to pay a deposit of 100 yuan. Swimming areas are fenced off with buoys, there are always a lot of people there, and it is not always possible to swim further away - vigilant guards on duty return you to the “zone.” Europeans note one drawback - there is no shower, nowhere to rinse off sea water. At the same time, everyone says that the water there is soft and not very salty.

The beaches of Shenzhen are not very far from the city - up to Da Mei Sha from the Window of the World park in the center double-decker No. 1 takes about an hour and a half. The ticket costs 8 yuan. The road does not tire you, because the view from the window is excellent, and the bus itself is quite comfortable.

If for some reason you don’t like the free beach, you can move to another one - Xia Mei Sha, the entrance to which costs 30 yuan. You can stay there all night and, if you wish, swim by the light of lanterns. This beach is very close to Da Mei Sha. Experienced travelers say that you don’t have to take the bus, but just walk - the road is pleasant, it takes less than an hour to walk. You can even go straight along the landscaped coastal path. A wave splashes at your feet, the breeze blows across your face... Isn’t it nice?

Xia Mei Sha is slightly smaller than Da Mei Sha, but they are very similar. The only difference, perhaps, is that the Chinese like to stay there overnight, so on weekends the beach turns into a tent city.

In any case, both beaches provide an excellent opportunity to relax and enjoy your vacation. There is also a park called Shenzhen Xiaomeisha Sea World. This is what is commonly called East Hawaii. Given the Chinese love for gigantomania, this is also not just a park, but a whole complex, which includes the Ocean Garden, Poseidon Garden, Turtle Island and other interesting objects.

Russians in Shenzhen appreciate these beaches, although you can choose something else. For example, Rose Coast with fine sand. For lovers fishing there is a special pier that goes straight to open sea. Rose Coast Beach is located in Shangdong village, near Kuichong town, Longan district. There are also such interesting beaches, like Dongchong Beach and Xichong Beach. There are excellent conditions for surfing and fishing enthusiasts, but there is a significant drawback for tourists - it is difficult to get there, since it is far from the city and you will have to spend a lot of time. First you need to come to Nan'ao by bus E11, and then transfer to the “black” van going to the beach. But you can pitch a tent there. By the way, it’s quite romantic, especially if you don’t have a lot of money. Sleeping under the stars, sea air, sunrises and sunsets...

And yet, the Chinese would not be Chinese if they left the Beaches of Shenzhen only as a recreation area; their business plans were initially calculated on more substantial profits. Therefore, the infrastructure around these wonderful places is well developed. If possible, it is worth renting a room at the Sheraton Dameisha Resort with a private “piece” of Da Mei Sha. If you don’t want to go to the sea, there are swimming pools and also spa and fitness centers. Rest, rest! Or, for example, the number in “ Pattaya Hotel» not far from the Sheraton. The rooms are decorated to resemble ancient Siam, there is a park nearby.

Of course, many travelers choose less pretentious hotels, because they come to see as much as possible and have a good rest, and not to sit in their room. Therefore, bed-and-breakfast hotels are preferred. For example, Aloha Beach Club, where, among other things, you can rent equipment for sea sports. It is important that in this place there is almost always a breeze, which is necessary for those who like windsurfing. You can get there by bus No. H92 or E11 to the Dapeng stop, and then a little more by taxi. Many people like that this hotel offers a European menu; there is always coffee and soups.

Shenzhen is “lucky” - it is located on the coast of the South China Sea, in the subtropics. Hence, it is simply a paradise for beach lovers. In addition, you can choose the beach itself depending on your interests and financial capabilities. In any case, if you happen to come to these places, it’s worth spending at least one day on the beach. Relax, swim, sunbathe and take a photo of Shenzhen as a souvenir of a wonderful trip.

Today Shenzhen is one of the most dynamically developing cities in China, fourth among the most competitive cities in the country.

Population of Shenzhen for 2018 is about 16 million people, and the city is among the top five cities in the world in terms of population growth rates. Thanks to huge foreign and government investments, Shenzhen has become a major industrial, financial and transport center of China in a fairly short period of time.

In addition, Shenzhen is called "the heart of electronics around the world", since all the electronic products used by humanity are produced here.

Phones, tablets, watches, toys, robots - everything a person can think of is presented on Shenzhen markets.

Therefore, it is simply impossible not to mention this Chinese city, which from its founding (1979) to the present day has acquired such a significant global status.

Shenzhen is located in Guangdong province in southeast China, bordering Hong Kong, which brings only positive effects to it.

Washing the shores of the city South China Sea, which gives the city not only the status of a resort, but also a major port city of the PRC.

The average air temperature in winter ranges from approximately 6 to 18 degrees above zero and in summer about +40. The city is very green, the air is quite clean, so living here is very comfortable. Weather in Shenzhen very nice...)

After interviewing foreign friends living in Shenzhen, we compiled a list of the city's top attractions. So, what to see in Shenzhen:

1. Theme park "The window of the world"(深圳世界之窗)

As we already wrote in the article , the Chinese love to copy other countries on their territory. So, in Shenzhen there is theme park "Window to the World" with copies of landmarks known to all mankind: Egyptian pyramids, Eiffel Tower, Triumphal Arch, Leaning Tower of Pisa and others.

Why should the Chinese go abroad if they can do it abroad at home?)

2. Shopping Park(购物公园)

The city center with an endless stream of shops and cozy restaurants, bars and clubs.

3. Huaqianglu Electronics Market(华强路)

A place that will truly not leave any lover of electronic devices indifferent. Everything you need is here. , smartphones, tablets, computers, Chinese miracle technology. It’s better to go in the morning, as you can spend a lot of time there!)

4. Dameisha Beach (大梅沙)

Incredible beautiful beach in the suburbs of Shenzhen. If you prefer beach holiday and want to get away from the oppressive atmosphere of the metropolis, swim in the sea, breathe clean air and enjoy nature - this is the place for you!

Shenzhen is a wonderful city that leaves only positive impressions!)

By the way, if you are homesick for home-cooked food, in Shenzhen you can order cottage cheese, sour cream, pate, dumplings and other delicacies from the beautiful woman Angela. A professional chef from Ukraine often pampers foreigners living in China with his unusually delicious culinary delights. Wechat number can be found by contacting us)

The first acquaintance with the Chinese beach caused a shock: a huge number of people, conditions on the beach, kilometer-long traffic jams... The information received was taken into account before the next trip to the sea.
So, here are some things to consider before heading out for the weekend:

  1. You need to leave Shenzhen for the beach EARLY in the morning! To get through the traffic jam, otherwise everything could drag on for long hours of waiting. On weekends, all the Chinese go to the beach, so it’s important not to get caught up in this crowd. On the road, in case you get stuck in a traffic jam, you need to stock up on food and water, so that if something happens you can refresh yourself.

  2. You need to book your hotel IN ADVANCE. Don't count on a large number of hotels, in fact, all the rooms may be occupied and then you will have to spend the night on the beach. In July there is an unprecedented influx of Chinese, housing prices are high - from 400 yuan/night.

  3. If possible, you should arrive and leave on a weekday. Because of such long journeys, a lot of effort and time are wasted, and in the end there are only a few hours left for rest. What comes out is not rest, but complete torment.

  4. Upon arrival at the beach, it is better to go to the side, away from the main entrance, so as not to get into the epicenter of a crowd of Chinese. It’s quieter there, there aren’t so many people and you can swim everywhere, not just in specially designated areas.

  5. Sunscreen and a hat are required! The sun can be very hot and it is not always possible to hide from it.

  6. In local establishments, the menu is exclusively in Chinese and without pictures. But you can always order something that is cooked on the grill) In some you can meet English-speaking Chinese, but this is rather an exception. Meeting such people is real luck. They can tell you where to go, where to buy what, etc.

  7. You need to have time to leave back in the direction of Shenzhen before 18:00! And it’s better even earlier, in order to get through the traffic jam that forms from the stream of Chinese rushing home.

This time we visitedLie Dong Chong. It's surrounded by these cute little hotels. It's very cozy here. Hotels and rooms are small and clean. Overall very good.

The air here is unusually clean! Sea, mountains and lush vegetation - a magnificent landscape!

On the beach you can rent a tent with a table and chairs for 100 yuan for the whole day. There is shade from the sun, shelter from the rain, and you can have lunch. There are cafes right on the beach. But it is better to eat there only in case of urgent need.

It's better to buy fruit. Very often you can find an uncle or auntie with such baskets selling longan, lychee and rambutan. Tasty and healthy.

There are few people on the beach. Most appear in the evening, mainly to take photos and stand in circles)

Many families vacation with children. Children frolic near the water. You can definitely meet a little Superman on any beach) Such suits are very popular.

It is worth noting that the water is very salty. If you dive, it will directly corrode your eyes. The color of the water here is more greenish, not as rusty as at Dameisha beach. The beach is relatively clean. But here and there you come across half-empty water bottles and fruit skins.

To diversify your leisure time, you can rent a surfboard (150 yuan / 3 hours) or take a boat ride.

We liked this trip more than the previous one. The main thing is to plan everything clearly!
