Which resort in Cyprus is better to go. Cyprus resorts - the most complete list, map marks, photos, hotels in resorts

When choosing Cypriot resort towns for recreation, we are guided by such factors as the time of rest, the number of vacationers, weather, infrastructure, entertainment for adults and children, transport, beach coverage, entry into the water, and the environment. If you focus on the beginning-end of the season from April to November, then it is better to choose the northeastern part of the coast: in April the air and sea are already warmer there, and this heat lasts until November.

Therefore, in order to study the most popular resorts in Cyprus, their description and comparison, we will move along the coastline from northeast to southwest, starting with Turkish Famagusta. Let's stop at the most significant recreation centers to get acquainted with their coast and surroundings, opportunities for entertainment and educational tourism. So let's get started!

The first point is Famagusta - a port city, the famous ghostly resort town. It belongs to the Republic of Turkey, getting here is somewhat more difficult than in the rest of the independent part of the island. Therefore, there are fewer vacationers here than in more "promoted" places, and the rest, respectively, is calmer and more pleasant.

Both the ancient and today's life of Famagusta is quite interesting, there is something to see. You can get from Nicosia by Itimat buses. The interval of movement is 30 minutes, the travel time is 60. Back in the middle of the last century, this ancient area, which the Turks call Magusa, occupied the top lines of the list of “most best resorts peace." But the Turkish invasion and annexation of territories in the early 70s seriously reduced the popularity of the town, although neither the seashore, nor the velvety sand, nor the gentle sea became worse from this.

You can book a hotel in Magus, they are near the coastline or in the center. The well-known Salamis Road is suitable for shopping. Bars and restaurants can be found on it and in the surrounding area. The cuisine is predominantly Turkish.

Not inferior to Famagusta, and even surpasses it in popularity, the town of Kyrenia, located in the north of the island. It is rightfully categorized as "the best resorts in Cyprus". You can get to this tourist capital of Northern Cyprus public transport from Famagusta and Nicosia.

Kyrenia will please not only with clean sandy beaches with clear azure sea, but also with proximity to various and interesting sights. Hotels ranging from luxury to budget can be found near the water and in the center. It is recommended to move around the city on rented cars or bicycles.

Ayia Napa, Nissi Beach

Resorts of Protaras and Ayia Napa

Kokkinokoria is a continuation to the south of the Cypriot resort region of Famagusta, represented by the legendary towns of Protaras and Ayia Napa. This area is distinguished by blue flag sandy beaches, good tourist infrastructure, ample opportunities for active entertainment and excursions.

The most famous beach of Protaras is the Date Beach, also known as Fig Tree bay. It is this place in Fig Tree Bay that is most visited by vacationers and most often captured in all sorts of photos. Here you can have a bite to eat, fortunately, there are a lot of restaurants around, and enjoy active water entertainment. Also among the popular and convenient beach areas of Protaras:

  • Luma or Golden Coast,
  • Flamingo, aka Sunrice beach,
  • Green Bay is a paradise for vacationers and divers.

In general, Protaras offers a measured holiday with children, which is very conducive to the local coast, or family relaxation. Entertainment is also present. In addition to the "standard" beach and various excursions, you can visit the "dancing fountains" in Protaras or the aquarium on the outskirts of Pernera.

Pernera is a developing resort area near Protaras. Here - beautiful beaches, as well as beautifully clean sea and air. At the same time, the environment is perhaps the best in all ecologically reliable Cyprus. These places are most favorable for the improvement of children and self-relaxation.

The famous Ayia Napa - Cypriot "Ibiza" - is known for its nightclubs, youth parties, beautiful sandy and pebble beaches that smoothly reach Larnaca. A feature of the resort of Napa is the opportunity to actively have fun and relax in seclusion, here everyone will find a place to their liking.

This resort is especially popular, and therefore it is densely populated with vacationers. Beaches are available in the city and beyond. Especially known:

  • Nissi,
  • Grishn,
  • Golden (Lanta Beach),
  • Makronissos,
  • Sandy Bay and many others.

All beach areas are municipal, only services are paid. Everywhere is clean, good infrastructure and transport links, entertainment for children and adults, including the largest water park on the island. In some places, the coast is not particularly suitable for swimming with children due to the rocky entrance or bottom.

Protaras, Feeg Tree Bay beach

Larnaca and Limassol

Larnaca is considered the cheapest of all resorts in Cyprus. This is the "air gate" of the solar island. Arriving here, you can no longer move on in search of the best places (although they are in Cyprus!), but stay in a hotel on the beach line and enjoy all the delights of a relaxing holiday.

Here you can stroll along the Finikoudes promenade, sunbathe on the clean city beach of Mackenzie or Finikoudes, sit in a local restaurant, enjoying seafood. Thanks to the calm that this place exudes, Larnaca is preferred by older holidaymakers or families with children. But even young couples will find here places for solitude and enjoyment of relaxation.

The coast is pebbly or with gray-yellow sand. The seabed is gently sloping everywhere, albeit sandy. As elsewhere, there is a good tourist infrastructure, it is convenient to make sightseeing trips.

The distance from Larnaca to Limassol is 70 km. Limassol is the "Russian capital" of Cyprus. So this place is definitely not suitable for those who would like to take a break from their compatriots.

However, Limassol is considered a universal resort. Both young and old, those who love peace and quiet, or who want to improve the health of restless children at the sea, will be able to have an equally pleasant time here. In this large city there are conditions for any type of recreation you choose:

  • sea bathing and beach relaxation: Dark gray volcanic sand containing flint has a particularly positive effect on the skin and overall health.
  • sightseeing tours: Limassol is an equidistant point to all island attractions.
  • entertainment with children: an amusement park with the only zoo in Cyprus and the three nearest water parks with an amusement park will help with this.
  • participation in numerous festivals: here they are held from February to October.
  • parties in clubs and restaurants: those who are thirsty are offered the widest choice of nightclubs, discos and bars.

Limassol, the second largest city on the island, is a place for those who prefer a resort holiday close to the achievements of urban civilization.

Limassol

Paphos and Pissouri

Some believe that the most beautiful resort places in Cyprus are Pissouri and Paphos. The charming town of Pissouri is 30 km away from Limassol to the west. The whole area in this area is covered with fragrant greenery and historical sights. The beaches are sandy and pebbly. Pissouri is the epitome of peace and tranquility, so it is suitable for those who are looking for a relaxing holiday and solitude. But both children and active tourists will also be able to have a good rest here, enjoying the comfortable coastline, fish fairs and the nearby picturesque National Park.

The next point of the coast is the former capital of the island, the city of Paphos. Now it is a famous, expensive and prestigious resort. People fly to Paphos airport to rest from Britain, Italy, Germany. Those of our compatriots who love sophistication and peace, the opportunity to be on their own, also have a rest.

The coastline of Paphos is rocky and pebbly. The well-known sandy beach of Coral Bay is 5 km from the city center. And although the sand on it is bulk, but the calm sea, shallow water, clear water and excellent infrastructure are ideal for family and not only recreation.

Pissouri
Pathos
Coral Bay beach in Paphos

Paphos is the center of historical and sightseeing places, and therefore lovers of antiquity and excursions are simply expanse here. This place is also suitable for:

  • fans of thalassotherapy and spa: expensive hotels offer chic thalasso and spa centers.
  • children's recreation and romantic couples: there are well-equipped and wild secluded beaches. There is also an aquarium and a water park.
  • active tourists and supporters of ecotourism: in June, a fun carnival "Kataklysmos" is held here, and the annual festival of Aphrodite is also organized.

Lara beach on the coast National Reserve disposes not only to water procedures, but also to the observation of the unique green turtles that live here. You can watch birds in the Bird Park or just have fun and relax in one of the best water parks - the Aphrodite complex. Please note that, considering the island of Cyprus and its wonderful resorts as an option for recreation or vacation, you can relax in Paphos almost all year round.

In this area, mountains come close to the sea, and a kind of microclimate is formed. In the heat, the sea breeze is very refreshing, and in winter it is not too cold: the temperature remains at around +7 - +14 degrees.

Comparative table

To help you decide which Cyprus resort to choose for your vacation, we have prepared a small table for comparison.

If you want to go on vacation to Cyprus, which city is better to choose?
It all depends on what kind of vacation you prefer. There are very few cities in Cyprus and each has its pros and cons.
First of all, it must be clarified that the island is divided into two parts: Northern Cyprus (Turkish part) and Southern Cyprus (Greek part). I only talk about southern Cyprus.

Limassol

As you can see, the main advantage of this city is its location - in the very center of the island. From here you can equally quickly get to any other city, to the mountains, to the airport.

Limassol is called " Russian city", since there are a lot of Russians here and everything related to Russians (shops, kindergartens, schools, goods, artists, inscriptions, flags, etc.). Therefore, for those who do not speak any other language, Limassol will very easy to navigate on any issue.

Limassol is a fairly large city, when viewed in terms of the size of Cyprus. So here a significant disadvantage for tourists is the movement of cars and gas pollution. Although there are practically no plants and factories here.

There are many beaches, but, unfortunately, most of them are located along the road.

Limassol has many shopping centers and various shops that you can visit and buy something local

and some international brands

Right on the outskirts of Limassol is the largest water park "Fasouri".

Conclusion: Limassol is a good travel idea for those who would like to travel around the island, visit other places (monasteries, other cities, mountains, local villages) or grandmothers with grandchildren who do not speak a foreign language.
In Limassol you will be surrounded by the sea, beaches, sun and sun-burnt Russians.

Nicosia (Lefkosia)

Capital of Cyprus. Located in the north of the island. The only city in which you should not go to rest at all, since there is neither sea nor beaches, but there is a hot sun and burnt Russians.

Ayia Napa, Protaras, Paralimni

These cities can be combined, as they are very small, exclusively resort and are very close to each other.

Ayia Napa is the most popular resort in Cyprus. Usually, tours to this small town are already packed in winter, only the cheapest or most expensive offers remain (although now there is a crisis, the situation is probably different).

There are always a lot of tourists here, it is very noisy, bars and cafes are packed to capacity, prices are biting, higher than in other cities. In Ayia Napa, many British and Cypriots themselves rest.

The main advantage of Ayia Napa is that it is absolutely a resort town. There is everything a tourist needs here who wants to swim, sunbathe, have fun on the sea and on land, rent any tourist equipment and walk all day in swimming trunks around the city.

But the main feature for which tourists love Ayia Napa is its beaches, they are sandy and relatively clean. In other cities of Cyprus, the beaches are mostly pebbly.

Has its own water park.

Conclusions: Not suitable only for those who cannot stand the noise, as it is very noisy around the clock.

But in Protaras and Paralimni it is quiet and calm. In Protaras you can visit the show "Dancing Fountains":

and admire the most beautiful sunset or sunrise:

Larnaca and Paphos are not very different from Limassol, so it makes no sense to analyze them separately. It can only be noted that these cities are smaller than Limassol and are located in the west and east of the island, respectively. Both cities have an airport. From Larnaca you can quickly get to Ayia Napa, and from Paphos to Polis.
Policy Very a nice place with beautiful beaches.

But the main attraction of this place is the Baths of Aphrodite, which is located just 48 km from Polis. The water level in the bath is no higher than the knee.

There are plenty to choose from. In addition to cities, there are also small villages, suburbs and mountains. There is a place for everyone to have a good time. As they say, if there was money ...

In the 60s, a military conflict broke out in Cyprus as a result of tension between the Greek and Turkish ethnic groups. During it, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus became isolated on the island, which is currently recognized as a separate state only by Turkey. It is separated from the "Greek" southern part of the island by the so-called Green Mile, which passes through the center of Nicosia and is guarded by UN troops.

The most popular resorts among "package" tourists are concentrated in the "Greek" Cyprus, although the "Turkish" half of the island has places for beach holiday. These include Kyrenia on the north coast and Famagusta. The latter, until the division of Cyprus in the 70s, remained its tourist capital, and today it remains only a popular place for short excursions. Its main attraction is the ghost town of Varosha, once an elite area.

The most beautiful resorts in Cyprus

Reviving in May, the best resorts of Cyprus are concentrated in the southern half of the island and are distinguished by the most modern infrastructure, the maximum amount of entertainment and attractions available to visit. The absolute "favorites" of tourists from Russia and Europe are Ayia Napa, Protaras, Paphos and Limassol.

Ayia Napa - for this resort area, which grew up in the 80s around a small seaside village, the status of "youth" was firmly entrenched. Due to the number of nightclubs on the marked Nissi Beach, Ayia Napa is even called the "second Ibiza". The hotel stock, differentiated by price and class, and the best beaches in all of Cyprus make the city attractive not only for young people, but also for families with children who are looking for a place to relax with infrastructure close to the city format. This year, 14 beaches of Ayia Napa were awarded the Blue Flag due to their exceptional cleanliness and livability.

Protaras is a tourist area adjacent to Ayia Napa, built up almost entirely with hotels and residential buildings in which apartments and studios are rented. This place is most often chosen by those who prefer to live in a quiet area with a European look, but in close proximity to interesting entertainment and sightseeing centers. It is in Protaras that most of the vacationers with children: local beaches are safe, protected from waves and with a large shallow area.

Paphos is the greenest resort in Cyprus, the heart of which is protected by UNESCO Old city with a unique architectural heritage. Its beaches are among the most picturesque on the island, while hotel prices are above average even in the low season. In general, the resort is focused on elite independent, sightseeing and romantic holidays, but in several large hotel complexes there are services and amenities adapted for tourists with children. The most picturesque places for a beach holiday in Paphos are Lara Bay, which belongs to the territory of the Green Turtle Marine Reserve, and the sandy beach of Coral Bay. Alykes, Faros, Geroskipou, Laourou, Pachamos and Vrisoudia have also been awarded the Blue Flag.

Limassol - the name of this resort is translated as "Middle City". It really is the "golden mean" between the prestigious and quiet Paphos and democratic noisy Ayia Napa. In addition, Limassol is considered the most "Russian" resort in Cyprus. Holidays here are multi-format: there are couples in love, small children, and young people on the beaches. In the city itself and its environs, you can find 16 Blue Flag beaches, 2 water parks, several prestigious SPA complexes, attractions of the ancient and early Christian period. By the way, from Limassol it is convenient to get to the medieval churches with unique paintings in Troodos, included in the UNESCO heritage.

The cheapest resorts in Cyprus

In Cyprus, even in the high season, you can find a place to stay on a minimal budget. Most of the inexpensive hotels and guesthouses are concentrated in Larnaca and Polis.

The cheapness of holidays in Larnaca is explained by three factors. Firstly, this is a city with a functioning port and airport, so it is almost always noisy and busy here. Secondly, the coast of this resort is strewn with soft but gray sand, and therefore the beaches are less picturesque than in Paphos or Ayia Napa. Thirdly, entry into the sea along the entire coastline is gentle: sometimes it takes 4-5 minutes to go to the depth, at least to the chest. However, these same conditional disadvantages make Larnaca an ideal place for traveling with children - without a tedious transfer after arrival and with safe swimming spots. In addition, the leisure infrastructure of Larnaca is developed at the most modern level - there are excursion destinations, and water activities and sports attractions.

Polis, in fact, is not exclusively a resort place. Being the center of a significant agricultural region with fisheries, tobacco and almond plantations, it "lives" all year round. The beaches here are semi-wild, but very beautiful, the most popular being Latchi. In addition, not far from the center of Polis, the territories of the Greenpeace protected Akamas reserve begin, in which the famous baths of Aphrodite are located. Hotel prices in Polis are below the average for Cyprus, and early booking significant savings even in high season.

Before choosing one or another city in Cyprus as the main base, which you define for yourself as the best, you first need to decide how you see your future vacation on this island. Each resort in Cyprus has its pros and cons. Let's try to describe both of them, and you decide what is more important for you.

Consider the most popular places, arranging them geographically, from west to east: Pathos, Limassol, Larnaca And Protaras(Paralimni). To make it clearer to you where which city is located, we will first show them on a map of Cyprus.

Now let's talk a little about the pros and cons of each.

Pathos

Not far from Paphos is a very interesting monastery of St. Neophyte the Recluse. In addition, there is a Botanical Park and a Zoo nearby. And if you rent a car, then it’s not so far to go to the Troodos from here, and to the protected Akamas peninsula. The only thing to keep in mind is that some of the hotels are not located in Paphos itself, but in the Coral Bay area, which is located away from the city.

There are many hotels in this area, and the beaches here are very good, but you will have to get to the city by bus 615, which, however, runs quite often. But in Paphos itself with good beaches quite stressful. There are good ones, but not every hotel, so often vacationers ride on Coral Bay beach.

Limassol

The coast of Limassol is an almost continuous beach with good entry into the water. Not shallow and not deep. The long promenade allows you to make long walks or bike rides along the sea. The only "flaw" is the grayish color of the sand, which is of volcanic origin. For some reason, when choosing Limassol as a vacation spot, this confuses many. But those who stop here stop noticing it on the second day.

Limassol stretches along the sea for 14 kilometers. From the eastern edge is the so-called "touristaria" (tourist aria), which houses most of the hotels, including almost all "five-star hotels". From here you will have to get to the center of Limassol and its "Old Town" by bus number 30, which often runs along the coast. In the central part of the city, the choice of hotels is also not small. We prefer to stay closer to the center, although we probably just got used to it over the years.

For independent travelers who intend to rent a car and move around the island a lot, Limassol, in our opinion, is the best choice. Its location (almost in the center of the coast of the island) allows you to travel more with less time. interesting places Cyprus, including, of course, the Troodos.

Larnaca

In addition, in the Larnaca region there is a very "shallow" sea. To swim normally, you need to go far enough into the water. For children, this expanse, and for adults - a small problem. :) In Larnaca itself, the beach is very long and wide, and outside it is also no worse. It is in this area that you can find the most budget hotels, which, coupled with the proximity to the airport, makes Larnaca attractive for many tourists.

The color of the sand here is light yellow, which is why the color sea water on the beaches it acquires an azure hue, which cannot but please the eye. Not as shallow as in Larnaca. In general, the beaches here are hard to find fault with. Ayia Napa is located to the right on the map from Larnaca, that is, about 50 km to the east. This means that it will be a little more difficult for those who planned to travel a lot around the island. All the same, in all honesty, the main attractions, starting with Troodos with its mountain villages and ancient churches, are located on the other side of Larnaca. Nevertheless, the main flow of tourists tends to this area or even further.

Protaras

The beaches in Protaras are no less gorgeous than in Ayia Napa, and maybe even better - it's hard to find the right criterion. But in terms of the "mentality" of vacationers, these places differ quite a lot. If Ayia Napa is distinguished by "incendiary", then in Protaras it is much more calm. Couples with children of different ages love to stay here, so Protaras is known as a quieter resort, where various entertainments can also be found. The central one-way street, stretching slightly above the coastline, is crammed with bars, taverns, shops and other joys of resort life. Yes, one fountain show is worth something, where many tourists from other areas strive to get!

We hope that our short introductory story about the resorts of Cyprus will help you choose the right city of "dream". :) From the beginning of May to the end of October, any of them is good in its own way. Separately, let's say a few words about the rest in the off-season, that is, from the beginning of November to the end of April. It is better at this time to choose between Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca. But Ayia Napa, and even more so Protaras, which are almost "dying out" at this time, should be left for another time.

If for you the beach is one of the main criteria for choosing a city or hotel, be sure to check out the comparative characteristics of the beaches of Cyprus before making a final decision. When you are interested in just one of them, the circle of hotel choice will narrow sharply. But if you plan to rent a car, then the beach may not be a determining factor, because you can get to any of them on your own if necessary.

Well, now that you have already decided on the place of residence, it remains to choose the right hotel for you. We will share about the features of choosing a hotel in Cyprus in the next story.

Most people know 2 things about Cyprus: that there is a sea there and that it is not Crete. The more advanced will add that this is also the birthplace of Aphrodite.

We are expanding our knowledge about an excellent visa-free (almost - a document can be done online) resort, where you can inexpensively drive to the beach. And choose the best place for relaxation, so as not to be disappointed.

I didn’t take a picture of a cat in Cyprus - consider I didn’t rest there!

What you need to know about Cyprus

Cyprus is a large island in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. It is washed by the Cyprus Sea, warm and salty. An island with a lot of history, but without any special attractions. Yes, there are several ancient churches, a couple of ruins of ancient settlements and Roman theaters. But lovers of long excursions and modern urban landscapes can be bored.

Why Cyprus is strong is beautiful nature and luxurious beaches. They are sand and pebble on the island, equipped and very clean. Most of them have been awarded the Blue Flags, which means that swimming here is pleasant and safe. Cyprus is dominated by respectable family tourists who rarely arrange night parties and drunken fights. Rest here is comfortable, safe, but generally not cheap.

  • resorts for family vacation with children - Protaras, Paphos, Larnaca;
  • the best sightseeing holiday - Larnaca;
  • youth recreation - Ayia Napa, Limassol.

Larnaca - convenient and budget friendly

The most inexpensive resort in Cyprus with sandy beaches. It is good to relax here with children or travel as a couple. There are no special resort "chips" in Larnaca. It is a city with a large port and developed infrastructure. There are metro, boutiques and restaurants. Beautiful promenade and yacht marina. For visitors - camel park, museums, exhibitions.

A huge plus of Larnaca is the location. The city has an airport. From here it is easy to get to all the sights. And given that Cyprus is quite small, in a couple of weeks you can travel around the entire coast.

What to see in Larnaca: Church of St. Lazarus, Museum of Pieridis in an ancient building (if you like history and antiquities), in winter or early spring - salt Lake where flocks of pink flamingos flock.

Protaras: luxurious beaches and silence around

The modern resort city was built in 2011 on the site of ancient fig groves. Everything is made for tourists - villas, hotels, cafes, beaches. There is almost no architecture and antiquities, except for the blue and white church of the Holy Prophet Elijah, towering over the city. The local flavor is expressed only in the traditional Cypriot cuisine - appetizers "meze", meat dishes "kleftiko" and "sheftalya", halloumi cheese and young Cypriot wine.

In Protaras, tourists visit local taverns and lazily pups on the beaches. The latter are good here: wide, with a sandy-pebble bottom, transparent-azure water, marked with Blue Flags. The best beach is located in Fig Tree Bay, right in the center - it is best to relax here with families with children. If you want privacy, take a walk to the right of the main crowd. There are small picturesque bays to lie down in relative silence. If you get tired of a quiet and measured rest, you can wave to Ayia Napa - it's only a 15-minute drive from here.

What to see in Protaras: Church of Elijah the Prophet with a panoramic view of the city, Dancing fountains (show every evening), Oceanarium, Fig tree beach, Cape Greco.

Cheerful beach Ayia Napa

The opposite of Protaras is a bustling and fun resort that never sleeps. Local Ibiza is built up with discos and nightclubs. Young people from all over Europe flock here to sunbathe on the beach during the day and dance at the foam parties in the Club Quarter at night. There are wide beaches with white sand and clear water. The best are Nissi Beach and Ayia Thekla. On the first one, liberated young people gather, and at sunset a beach disco begins, on the second - a real oasis of calm for families with children.

Ayia Napa is right next to Protaras, separated only by Cape Greco. In the 1970s, this was just an ordinary fishing village. For 40 years, it has become a world-class resort with good infrastructure - there are a lot of hotels, villas, entertainment centers for children and adults, cafes, taverns and restaurants for every taste and budget. Almost everywhere there is Russian-speaking staff, and the locals are responsive and friendly.

What to see in Ayia Napa: from antiquities - Ayia Napa Monastery, Rock Tombs of Makronisos, Aqueduct, for children - Water world water park, natural attractions - Cape Greco and national park"Cavo Greco", for those who like to tickle their nerves - a local ghost town, the Varosha quarter in the city of Famagusta.

Golden mean - Limassol

A resort that is good for families with children, party-goers and lovers of a quiet holiday. The "business capital" of Cyprus, Limassol, has something to please everyone: good sandy beaches with a gentle entrance to the water, secluded picturesque coves, a beautiful promenade with nightclubs and bars, water parks and amusement parks. And in August, the resort traditionally hosts a wine festival - another plus of a holiday here.

Limassol means "middle city" - it is located between Paphos and Ayia Napa. If you can not choose where to fly in Cyprus, choose Limassol. It has unique places and great beaches. For example, Governor's: white limestone cliffs combined with dark volcanic sand and blue sea - an incredible sight. A 20-minute drive from the center of Limassol is the longest beach in Cyprus - Ladies Mile, the coast of which is covered with small pebbles.

What to see in Limassol: castle-museum of the 14th century in the center, Kolossi castle 10 kilometers from the city, the ancient city-state of Kourion with the Temple of Apollo Khilatsky, city park, Fasouri Watermania Waterpark Limassol.

Expensive and respectable Paphos

At first glance, Paphos is exactly what a resort with this name should be: fashionable hotels, equipped beaches, expensive restaurants, snow-white yachts and a well-groomed promenade. But if you look closely, Paphos is not at all pretentious.

There are enough hotels and establishments with affordable prices, beautiful wildlife and antiquities around. The beaches are mostly sandy, and the bottom is rocky, so the water is transparent blue. Entrance is mostly free, but you will have to pay about 3-5 euros for an umbrella and a sunbed. The most famous beaches are Coral Bay and Atlantis.

Other cities in Cyprus where you can go

Nicosia- the divided capital of Cyprus and Northern Cyprus. It is located in a picturesque place surrounded by mountains. One of the oldest cities in the world with many attractions: the Old Town and separately the Laiki Gethinia quarter with old houses and cobbled streets, the city center on the border of two states, the best museums in Europe.

Policy- a small coastal town that has not turned into a tourist center. This is its charm: it is quiet here, there are almost no tourists, and from entertainment - fishing with locals, colorful bazaars and fairs. A bonus to everything are excellent clean, not packed to capacity, beaches.

Peyia- a picturesque village 14 kilometers from Paphos. There is not much to see here, except for two ancient temples. But there are plenty of local restaurants where you can taste "dolmades" (stuffed cabbage rolls in grape leaves) and "kleftiko" (baked lamb). The beaches are completely wild and rocky. There is no mass flow of tourists, only inquisitive tourists with neighboring resorts. You need to go here if you want to look at the ordinary life of Cypriots, not related to tourism.
