I've already been to Spain twice. The last trip was to Ibiza and I must admit, the vacation was a great success. At first I couldn’t get used to the fact that there were a lot of people in the city, that is, tourists, but then I didn’t even stop noticing them :) it’s always sunny and full of bright colors, I hope you enjoy the trip.

Ibiza Airport – Aeropurto de Ibiza (Ibiza)

In general, it is correct to say “Ivica”, as the name of the island on which the city is located, but everyone is more accustomed to saying it the way the name of the city is written. The city is only 6 kilometers from the airport. I would like to go again, perhaps the next time will be soon, and my husband and I will take a break from the winter Moscow weather. If you wish, book tickets in advance; as experience has shown, they are often not available at exactly the time when you need them; you can purchase them on different websites, for example, here.

Everything is standard at the airport, from cafes to ATMs. By the way, I recommend renting it immediately at the airport, since you will need cash to pay for transport. Near the ATMs you will also find exchange offices if you need them. There is one medical center and a pharmacy, so you can always ask for help if necessary.

There is a paid shower and a “mother and child” room, which any mother can use to feed and change her child. There are also several cafes where you can have a quick bite to eat so as not to be hungry. As for entertainment, there is free internet. If this is not of interest to you, you can sit in the departure lounge, where there is a beautiful panoramic view, to watch the planes take off.

Getting into the city from the airport is easy, but it all depends on what time of day you arrive. In any case, you have a choice, from the airport you can get:

  • by bus;
  • Taxi;
  • transfer;
  • by car.

By bus

The bus stops at the airport exit, where passengers can board and travel to the city. Unfortunately, there are only three buses from the airport on different routes, and it often happens that there is not enough space to get there. The journey to the bus station takes 15 minutes. You need to take one of the buses, depending on where you need to go:

  • bus number 10 - from the airport goes to the Ibiza Bus Station, where you can get off. The bus then goes to seaport“Botafoch”, this will be the final stop. The bus leaves every 15 minutes in the summer season, and every 30 minutes in other seasons. The departure time of the first bus is at 07:00, and the last at 23:00;

  • bus No. 9 - this route operates only from the beginning of June until September 12, it simply does not go any further, so keep that in mind. The bus departs from the airport along the route “San Antonio – San Jos”. The bus departs every hour, starting at 07:00 and ending at 00:00;

  • bus No. 24 - this route is valid from June 1 to the last day of September, after which it, like No. 9, is irrelevant. The bus runs on the route “Airport – Cala Nova – Es Canar – Santa Eulria”. The bus starts running from 07:00 to 23:00 every hour.

Fare

  • Travel on bus number 10 will cost 3.50 euros;
  • Travel on bus number 0 will cost you 4 euros;
  • But a trip on bus number 24 is 4.50 euros.

Where to buy tickets

You don’t need to buy tickets anywhere, you just need to pay the fare to the driver to get on the bus.

By taxi

The good thing about a taxi is that it works around the clock and getting into the city in the middle of the night will not be a problem. Taxis are located right outside the airport and you will notice them as soon as you leave the terminal. Taxis are white, you can take absolutely anything, since the fare is still fixed, and you won’t pay more than necessary. All taxis are metered, so feel free to hop in to get to the city quickly. Travel time will take no more than 10 minutes.

Fare

  • Travel on weekdays from 07:00 to 21:00 will cost 13 euros;
  • The fare on holidays and weekends, as well as from 21:00 to 07:00, increases by 15 percent, so keep this in mind if you get on at night.

By transfer

If you wish and have the funds, you can always order a transfer, as this is a convenient way to get to the city. All you need to do is book your transfer in advance, choosing the company that suits you best. Then you need to send a transfer request, everywhere with a standard set of questions:

  • your full name;
  • city and country;
  • flight number;
  • arrival date;
  • how many are you;
  • car model;
  • address where to deliver;
  • phone number.

Once your application is approved, you can be sure that the transfer will be waiting for you upon arrival. As soon as you go through all the formalities and receive your luggage, you leave the airport, you will see that the driver is already waiting for you with a sign in his hands. The sign will have your name on it so that you can recognize the driver and understand that he has come to pick you up.

Transfer cost

The transfer will cost about 70 euros.

By car

And the last, I would say, the most convenient option is to rent a car. Most tourists take it to make it convenient to move around the city and country. Here, of course, everything depends on your financial capabilities and desires, but nevertheless, it is always convenient. You can rent a car in advance, this is good because you can choose the car you want. You can even rent a car, but I repeat, do it in advance, for your own convenience.

But if you rent upon arrival, then there is a risk that you will have to choose a car from the leftovers and it is not a fact that you will like it. Also, if you did rent in advance, don’t forget a copy of the contract; you will be asked for it when you arrive at the company’s counter. If not, then be sure to take your license and, by the way, it must be of international standard.

In this article you will find detailed instructions on how to get from Ibiza airport to the main resorts and cities of the island: Playa d'en Bossa, San Antonio, Portinach, San Miguel, Talamanca and Santa Eularia das Rio. The information is relevant for independent tourists who did not fly to Ibiza on a package tour.

Before traveling to Ibiza, I advise you to follow these recommendations:

  • after booking a hotel or apartment, look at its location on Google Maps and get directions to it;
  • write out the exact address your hotel and, if possible, download a map of Ibiza to your smartphone. It is extremely important to write down your address accurately to avoid confusion: in Ibiza, in addition to classical Spanish, the Catalan language is widely spoken. The names of streets and even cities look completely different in Catalan. For example, Ibiza is written in Spanish as Ibiza and in Catalan as Eivissa.;
  • have small Euro bills and coins ready if you plan to travel to your resort by public transport.

Rent a car at Ibiza airport

The airport has offices of popular international rental companies: Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Sixt, InterRent. During the season, a lot of people gather at the rental offices from arriving flights, because renting a car at the airport is much more convenient than searching for a rental office later at the resort. Ibiza is not a large island, but very interesting and full of natural attractions. To inspect it completely by car, you should allow at least 2-3 days.

We always try to book a car in advance, since when booking on the spot you will have to choose from the remaining options - not always the most convenient and most profitable. So, in Tenerife we did not book a car in advance, and were forced to travel as a group in an Opel Mocca, which did not seem particularly comfortable to us. This is why I recommend booking your rental car in advance online through a website that compares prices from all rental companies. If you order a car in advance, you can pick it up directly at Ibiza airport.

Taxi from Ibiza airport

The taxi rank at the airport is located next to the terminal exit. In resorts, taxis often wait for passengers near large hotels or bus stations.

In taxis on the island of Ibiza, the following system of surcharges and commissions for travel applies:

  • When traveling by taxi on weekends and after 21:00, an increased tariff applies
  • When ordering a taxi in advance by phone, an additional payment of 1.3 Euro is charged
  • Tax when traveling from the airport – 1.8 Euro
  • Minimum tariff – 3.65 Euro
  • Suitcases and animals are transported free of charge
  • Average fare on weekdays from 07:00 to 21:00: 1.09 Euro/km; fee for idle time: 19.58 Euro for 1 hour (if idle in a traffic jam, the meter will also charge a fee)
  • Average fare on weekdays from 21:00 to 07:00: 1.33 Euro/km; idle fee: 23.98 Euro for 1 hour (if idle in a traffic jam, the meter will also charge a fee)

During the season, taking a taxi at the airport is not so easy: crowds of arriving tourists crowd into queues for free cars. Therefore, in order to avoid the painful wait for a taxi in the heat, I recommend that you pre-book a taxi transfer from the airport via the Internet and not worry about anything. The car will be delivered directly to the airport terminal at the agreed time, the taxi driver will meet you with a sign with your name and help you carry your suitcases - isn’t it convenient?

There are 3 bus routes from Ibiza Airport to the city. They stop at the exit of the terminal building.

Payment for travel is carried out by purchasing a ticket from the driver.

It is worth considering that buses leave the terminal as full as possible. Some tourists do not immediately get on the flight and have to wait for the next one.

Taxi from Ibiza airport

For those who don't want to leave things to chance with buses, an alternative is a taxi. You can find a car at the exit of the terminal building or order it online in advance.

Taxis can be found at the exit of the terminal building or ordered in advance online

For vacationers with children or a large group, the option of ordering a taxi is the most acceptable. At the ordering stage, you can equip the car with a child car seat or order something extremely spacious - even a minibus.

In the case of cars at the terminal It should be noted that in Spain there are still there is a scam among taxi drivers. It can concern both trips in a roundabout way and the cheating of counters for tourists. Local authorities are actively fighting this phenomenon, but such cases are still not uncommon.

When ordering online, the passenger knows the exact price in advance travel, and there is no danger of risk with markup. On the contrary, it is in the driver’s interests to deliver the client to the desired location faster.

Having pre-ordered a car, you don’t need to worry if the flight schedule changes: the service independently monitors the arrivals board, and the car is delivered exactly to the landing of the desired flight. If a passenger is delayed in the terminal for any reason, downtime is also not charged.

You can find out more about the tariffs and book a taxi from Ibiza airport on this page.

Car rental at Ibiza airport

Another way to get to any point on the island is to rent a car. You can order a car either at Ibiza airport or in advance of your trip through a car rental price comparison service.

Renting a car is a very convenient way to get to any point on the island

If you rent a car on the spot, you need to read the contract very carefully. Because there are certain pitfalls, due to which the final rental cost can increase significantly. For example, the base price may include a fixed mileage and you will have to pay extra for excess. There are other similar tricks that it makes sense to pay attention to in order to avoid overpayments.

It is worth taking into account that in the summer season, when there is a large flow of tourists, economy class cars are dismantled first. Therefore, the option of booking a car in advance will be more reliable and, as a rule, will allow you to save significantly.

In addition, online booking through price comparison systems makes it easier to avoid markups. After all, price comparison systems bring all rental conditions to a single form, and it is much easier to calculate the “tricks”.

You can try to compare car rental conditions in Ibiza, find out their current prices and available cars by following this link. But it’s better not to delay the choice - during the high season, cars are dismantled very actively, and the favorable conditions change almost daily.
