Family holidays with children, as practice shows, is also relevant, but only when living in a quiet part of the city near the Fenals beach (Platja de Fenals). We went on a tour in early May, it is cool to swim at this time, but +20 degrees of heat is ideal for walking and lying on the beach. Therefore, we liked visiting Andorra, Montserrat, Barcelona and Girona doubly 🙂
The autumn and spring months are not super popular, then the water does not warm up, then the rain gets wet. However, the weather in Lloret de Mar is conducive to beach holidays and these "unclaimed" periods. On the contrary, we advised you to go at this time - tours are much cheaper 🙂 The climate in the region is very mild: in winter, the air temperature even at night almost never drops below +10°C, and in summer you rarely see more than +28°C on a thermometer. Although on our trip on our own in 2017 it was more than +30°C. Once in a while it doesn't have to. We also went to Barcelona in May 2018 and the weather was great! (+21..+24°C)
In principle, everyone sets their own priorities, but, in our opinion, to fully enjoy the picturesque nature of Lloret de Mar - bays with rocks protruding from emerald water, green hills, pine forests - and Spain as a whole will turn out exactly in the initial and final intervals season.

Also of interest is the "Cat's House" - a unique museum dedicated to purring animals.

- Monastery of Montserrat with the Black Madonna- the patroness of Catalonia, towering on the mountains of amazing shape. Here we climbed up the hiking trails and saw the monastery from the top of the mountains. Fresh mountain air upstairs 🙂
A little advice: it is better to look for Russian guides on the spot, not from a travel agency. If there are two of you, then you can team up with other tourists and in the 4-6th go to explore places in comfortable conditions, and it will be easier to decide to leave faster or stay easier)
First trip abroad
- - an hour from Lloret de Mar by bus. We went there for 1 day on our own without guides. We walked around the city, sat in a cafe. A one-way bus ticket then cost around 3-5 euros.
Went for 10 euros round trip to Girona
- Andorra- it is also advantageous to go here with a personal guide by car (you can use the same one with which you went to Montserrat). Ideal for shopping, walking with mountain views. My friends liked it very much, but they left about 300 euros there, having bought a lot of good clothes.
- - we went to the capital of Catalonia on a tour from the hotel, I don’t remember the exact cost, but next time I would also gather a company and rent a car. I remember that the bus was not very convenient, you are very dependent on other groups and you are afraid to be late and be left alone. 🙂 We advise anyone to go to Barcelona at least for 1-3 days, now this is our favorite city.
On our first trip, Park Güell was still free
- Port Aventura- a must visit place if you like amusement parks. So far, while we visited, this is the best and cheapest park in the world 🙂 In the same Universal Studio (were in Los Angeles), there is no such thing. Then (in 2013) a ticket cost about 23 euros, now from 55 euros per adult (although it is worth noting that Ferrari Land has been added). Be sure to ride Shambhala. We rode it as many as 2 times.

The first settlers of Lloret de Mar were Iberians who inhabited what is now Catalonia around the 4th century BC.
The Iberians were replaced by the Romans, who established trade relations with neighboring settlements. The first documentary mention of Lloret de Mar dates back to 966.
The current nucleus of the population was formed in the fifteenth century around the beach, at that time located about 1 kilometer from the coast. By the 16th century, the center of the city had moved to the coast.
In the 19th century, Lloret was transformed, receiving a new round in architecture and economy. It was the “epoch of Indianos”, during which many local residents went overseas (America, Cuba, etc.), where they conducted business activities - traded, engaged in shipbuilding, etc., and then, having become rich, returned to their homeland, but no longer in the old ancestral homes, but erected new architectural buildings, at that time a curiosity for the province of Lloret architecture. According to their orders, neoclassical, modernist or eclectic villas were erected in Lloret and the surrounding area, some of which can still be seen today.
As the resort of Lloret began to receive the first foreign tourists in the 50s of the 20th century, then the old estates began to turn into hotels and recreation places, part of the vineyards were urbanized, the beaches were ennobled, the buildings of the central city core were connected with the buildings of the beach areas, and the city itself grew deep into the mainland.
However, the beginning of the development of tourism in Lloret was by no means sudden. Even before the middle of the 20th century, in the twenties and even earlier, rich families from Barcelona liked to spend their summers in the area. Among the most famous vacationers of that era, we should mention the famous Catalan poet Josep Carnera, who in 1919 in the magazine D'ací, d'allà described Lloret de Mar with the epithet "paradise on earth".
Currently, Lloret is a famous resort that attracts guests both with its beaches stretching for 9 kilometers along the coast and the promenade, which is a popular area for walking and relaxing, an abundance of bars and restaurants, thanks to which Lloret received the status of the most party and youth resort of the Costa Brava, as well as various sights and coastal paths that previously served as sentinel routes.
The beaches of Lloret de Mar
The city has six sandy beaches, which in the high beach season has all the necessary beach infrastructure to enjoy the sun and the sea with complete comfort.
On the beaches: sun loungers and parasols (average cost 7 Euro per sun lounger or umbrella; 19.50 Euro - two sun loungers and an umbrella), showers and toilets, bins and decks for ease of movement, beach cafe-bars and kiosks with drinks and ice cream. Also on most beaches there are places for water activities.
