Ski resorts in Europe: where to go? The cheapest ski resorts in Europe: prices The cheapest ski resort.

When choosing a ski resort among European countries, the vast majority of tourists strive to find the cheapest option. This need is due to the fact that the cost of such vouchers usually does not include the price of accommodation at the place of stay.

In addition, vacationers are also forced to pay separately for meals throughout the entire period of their stay at the winter resort. By properly organizing your luggage, as well as choosing the most budget-friendly option for a travel destination, a tourist will avoid unexpected expenses and save money without compromising the quality of his vacation.

Ski resorts in Europe (inexpensive places are often not inferior in the quality of services provided to more elite destinations) can provide tourists with maximum pleasure only if they first think through the details of the trip.

By taking everything you need with you, the vacationer will save himself from the need to buy or rent things while already on the spot. When organizing your luggage, you must make sure you have skis or a snowboard.

Wardrobe items that you may need for a winter holiday in Europe include:

  • Ski suit. It should be created specifically for active sports in the cold season. A membrane suit (pants and jacket) made from breathable materials would be ideal. On the sleeve of a professional kit there is usually a special pocket for storing a ski pass.
  • Ski boots. Depending on the sport that the tourist plans to practice, he must first purchase shoes of the appropriate size. Wearing the wrong boots will make your skiing or snowboarding experience more difficult.
  • Thermal underwear. Worn on a naked body under a ski suit as the first layer. It retains heat and provides moisture removal during active sweating.
  • Fleece jacket and pants. The second layer, worn over thermal underwear under a membrane suit.
  • Socks. It is advisable to buy them at a professional sports store. Socks for skiers are made from fine wool or mohair. They are high, which helps retain heat in the lower body and prevents snow from getting into the shoes.
  • Scarf, hat and gloves. The scarf should be of the snood type. It will provide better protection from the wind. Gloves must have special hard inserts that protect the athlete’s hands from injury when falling. The hat is usually two-layered with windproof sections.
  • Protective mask. It is necessary to prevent snow and ice fragments from getting into the tourist’s eyes at the moment of direct descent from the slope.
  • Balaclava. Protective fabric covering most of the tourist's face can minimize the risk of frostbite during low temperatures or gusty cold winds.

Inexpensive hostels in European ski resorts or other places offered to tourists for accommodation usually have a minimum number of amenities.

To organize your own pastime and minimize unforeseen circumstances, when packing for a winter vacation, you need to remember the things listed below.

Don't forget to grab:

It is advisable to pack all things compactly, dividing them into 2 bags. One, with things that will only be needed on the ski trip, should be put in the luggage compartment; the second one is to take with you (you can put a first aid kit, money, documents and gadgets in it for entertainment on the road).

Such places, combining key advantages (low price, developed resort infrastructure, high-quality service, professional staff), are:

Austria

The resort of Sölden, located in Austria. This is a lively place in the city of Tyrol, ideal for active extreme sports enthusiasts, groups of young people, as well as professional skiers, skaters, and snowboarders.

The season here lasts from late October to early May. Among the main advantages: a large amount of thick layer of snow, modern equipment, the ability to combine winter holidays with treatment at thermal springs located on the territory of the resort. France

The world famous resorts of Courchevel, Megeve, Chamonix in France. The season here begins in December and ends in the second half of April. The advantage of these resorts is that they offer their guests a wide range of accommodation and entertainment options, from the cheapest to the elite.

These resorts are suitable for both professional athletes and amateurs who come there primarily just for a change of scenery. The price for a weekly ski pass, as well as equipment rental and individual training, is approximately the same - from 250 to 400 euros.

Finland

Luosto ski resort in Finland, operating from late November to April. Despite the short period of operation of the resort, the snow-covered slopes attract more and more tourists every year. This is an ideal place for a family holiday; professionals will get bored here.

Safe trails, comfortable living conditions, as well as the opportunity to ride reindeer or dog sleds are the reasons why this resort is mainly chosen by people vacationing with children. The cost of a week's holiday here per person will be from 200 to 300 euros, depending on the age and availability of benefits for the tourist.

Italy

Italian winter resort Livigno, located near the Swiss border. Winds are extremely rare here, which makes staying in the complex as comfortable as possible. The season here lasts from November to April.

Considering the proximity of the location to Milan, tired of being at one with nature, it will not be difficult for a tourist to go to the “capital of civilization” on a constantly running bus. The average cost of a week's holiday here is 250 - 350 euros per person, excluding accommodation and meals.

Andorra

Two nearby ski resorts in Andorra, Pal and Arinsal, are distinguished by their developed infrastructure and the presence of modern ski lifts, with a traffic capacity of more than 50 people per hour.

In addition to the traditional courses for beginner skiers or snowboarders, there are many bars and even high-end restaurants with panoramic views of the snow-capped hills. From Pal and Arinsal the nearest airport is a little more than 30 km, which makes it convenient to transport tourists to their destination.

The average price for a weekly pass (lift service and equipment rental) varies from 150 to 200 euros, depending on the age of the athlete.

Germany

Ski resorts in Germany, for example Garmisch-Pantherkirchen, have a large number of slopes and slopes, the total length of which exceeds 60 km. A distinctive feature of such places is the presence of cafes, bars, hostels and hotels, which are the embodiment of Bavarian traditions.

Switzerland

The famous winter resorts of Switzerland - Davos, Zermatt and St. Moritz - are a kind of symbol of the country.

These are one of the first “ski resorts” that were open to guests from all over the world. The Olympic Games and World Economic Forums have been held here several times, and there are also five-star luxury hotels designed to accommodate VIP guests.

One of the most famous ski resorts in Europe: Davos, Switzerland

If you want to relax economically, a tourist will have to pay from 250 to 300 euros for a week’s use of the ski lifts, as well as equipment rented.

Norway

Ski resorts in Norway, for example, Lillehammer or Geilo, offer tourists not only to try extreme sports, but also to ride in a reindeer sled, take part in ice fishing, and visit cafes and atmospheric bars.

Each of the most famous Norwegian resorts has hosted the Olympic Games at least once, which explains the development of the infrastructure of these places. The total length of the routes reaches 80 km. The average price for a week's holiday for 1 person is 300 euros.

Sweden

Sweden is famous for its winter resort Åre. The prices for hotel accommodation here are quite reasonable (from 4,500 thousand per night). The territory of Åre includes 4 villages and 5 ski areas, between which a free bus constantly runs.

The season here starts in November and ends in May. The total length of the tracks reaches 100 km, which is one of the highest in Europe. A weekly pass here will cost a tourist 320 euros excluding food and accommodation.

Czech

Ski resorts in Europe that are inexpensive but allow tourists to relax comfortably include Spindleruv Mlyn and Janske Lazne in the Czech Republic. They are located near the European capital (Prague), just over 110 km. People come here to ride from December to April.

The difference between these places is that in addition to traditional schools teaching resort guests how to ski, skate and snowboard, there are Russian-speaking instructors here. They work not only with adults, but also with the youngest tourists. The average price for a holiday in these places is from 100 to 200 euros (accommodation and meals are paid separately).

Georgia

Georgian Gudauri is not only ready to accept tourists, but also those who want to stay here for permanent residence. Apartments are sold here at a high price, but they “pay off” their owner’s investment within 8-10 years of constant skiing during the season.

At the resort you can not only learn skiing and snowboarding, but also play tennis, visit a Finnish sauna, a swimming pool and even a swimming pool. The cost of a ski pass and equipment rental valid for a week reaches 200 euros per person.

Bulgaria

Bulgarian ski resorts (the most famous among them are Bansko, Pamporovo, Borovets) are one of the “youngest”, but best-equipped winter destinations for tourists. The season here lasts from mid-December to the second half of April.

Despite the short total length of the trails, no more than 14 km in each resort, their popularity among athletes is growing every year. The increased interest is driven by the availability of housing and services provided locally. For example, the price for a lift for a week will not exceed 150 euros.

Romania

Romanian Poiana Brasov is considered an elite ski resort among the economy class. The total length of the slopes in this place is approximately 14 km.

In addition to the presence of many slopes, there are chairlifts, artificially created skating rinks, swimming pools, saunas, gyms and so on. You can relax here for 300 euros, taking into account the lack of benefits and additional discounts.

Slovenia

Bohinj, geographically located in Slovenia, offers its guests not only to practice skiing, skating and snowboarding, but also to ride on virgin soil or on the usual slope, but at night. The best time to come here is from December to May.

Slovenian skiing is best suited for families with children who do not want to be in the center of social events on vacation (live concerts, sporting events, etc.).

There are 2 ski areas in Bohinj, and a free bus runs between them. The average fee for a subscription (lift + equipment) will be up to 180 euros per week.

Poland

Zakopane in Poland is a small city (population of more than 30 thousand people), on the territory of which one of the most famous ski resorts in Europe is located. World-class competitions are held here, and people from all over the world vacation here.

Despite the fact that hotels in Zakopane are above average in price, prices for services provided at the resort are among the lowest. For example, a week of equipment rental and daily one-hour courses with an instructor will cost a tourist 180 - 250 euros Slovakia (Jasna)

Slovakia

In Slovakia, in order to relax in the winter season, tourists prefer to go to Jasna. This is a ski resort considered one of the most versatile in Europe. It will be interesting here for both a professional athlete and a child who comes to this place with his parents.

Jasna offers to visit children's and adult slopes, ride a motor sleigh or visit local attractions. The lift capacity here is extremely high - about 12,000 people per hour. The cost of just a weekly pass here varies from 100 to 200 euros.

Contrary to popular belief that it is impossible to relax at a ski resort in Europe inexpensively, practice proves the opposite.

With the right approach to organizing a trip (collecting the necessary things and choosing a travel destination), a tourist will be able to not only relax as economically as possible, but also acquire new skills thanks to individual lessons with experienced instructors, as well as meet professional athletes for free.

Video on the topic: ski resorts in Europe

Famous ski resorts in Europe:

Today I was puzzled by the question: where to go skiing at the beginning of 2018.
Assuming that we will return home in mid-January, I allocated the last week of January for skiing.

From previous trips to the mountains, I noticed that in the middle and end of January there is a shift change at the ski resorts:
– the peak of New Year’s prices has passed, and the next one, the February peak, has not yet arrived.
People had a blast during the New Year holidays, spent a lot of money, and will already miss skiing in February.

Choosing a ski resort in Europe

Lately we've been riding in and.
This year we have a lot of Italy in, so for January I looked at the ski resorts of Austria - Tyrol.

I didn’t want to discover America, so I looked at the places we had already been.
This is , , and .

How did you watch it? – I opened a booking for resorts and looked at decent housing - apartments - about plus/minus a few days in the required period of time.
Looked in Sölden Apartment Oskar near the ski lift Giggijoch– fully booked.
Looked at housing in Lehe And Ischgle.
And then I looked at my luck and bingo! – there was a free apartment next to the TV booth – Gurglhof Apartmenthaus: 40m2 with south-facing balcony.

In January we are going skiing in !
And then everything is simple.

Purchasing air tickets

I'm looking at air tickets on the website.
The best option to get closest to Obergurgl is to fly to the Austrian Innsbruck.
But here’s the thing: for my dates there are no direct flights from Moscow to Innsbruck.
There are two more airports in the area - Munich and Salzburg.

There are direct S7 flights to both Munich and Salzburg from Moscow.
Airfare prices are the same.
The distance from Munich and Salzburg to Obergurgl is the same.

Rent a Car

I look at car prices on the website at Munich and Salzburg airports.
The cost of renting a car in Salzburg is twice as expensive as in Munich.
And this despite the fact that the car rental period in Munich is longer by a day due to the evening flight to Moscow.

That's why I pre-select Munich.

Ski rental at ski resorts

I've been traveling to the mountains light for a long time.
I rent everything on site: skis, boots, poles, helmet.
I wrote earlier about this method of not loading yourself with weights: .

Another advantage of renting equipment on site: if you stay at one resort and rent accommodation near the TV cabin, you can rent a small car with room for one suitcase.

Ski insurance

Hello reader! I often destroy the stereotypes that vacation is very expensive. Believe me, there are many options for the budget traveler. Today we will look at some of the cheapest ski resorts in Europe. I also chirkana about a couple more expensive ones. The weather in spring is so changeable, it is likely that you will still have the opportunity to go riding this year.

Mountains, freezing air, a sea of adrenaline. What could be better than spending the last days of winter outdoors! I have compiled my subjective rating of the best and affordable European ski resorts, where you can ski inexpensively, grab some mulled wine and just look at the beautiful mountains.

Before you start looking at inexpensive ski resorts in Europe, I advise you to look into Decathlon store. They are currently updating their range of equipment; they have good models of equipment at reasonable prices. I recently bought a backpack there and I recommend it to everyone.

Inexpensive ski resorts in Europe - budget and not so

Bansko in Bulgaria

Bansko is not such a popular and promoted resort, but it has long managed to win over all lovers of alpine skiing from all over the world. Do you know where it is on the map or maybe you’ve been there? Be sure to write in the comments.

In Bansko you can find one of the most beautiful mountain ranges of the Pyrenees. In addition, this region is not considered only a ski resort. It is also a beautiful old city with many attractions.

You can come here on vacation from mid-December to mid-April. During this period, there is stable snow cover, the thickness of which sometimes exceeds two meters. The town has good service and varied infrastructure. Here you will find more than six trails, the length of which exceeds 14 kilometers. They are located at an altitude of 2.5 km above sea level.

In Bansko it is easy to book a cozy cheap hotel or expensive apartments. You can also purchase a ski lift ticket, for 7 days you will have to pay 150 euros per adult and 85 euros for a child under 12 years old. Some people prefer to purchase the entire ski package for the same period (it includes: rental, ski pass and training with an instructor), its cost does not exceed 250 euros for an adult and 148 euros for a child. I think if you buy passes in advance you can save a lot.

Where to look for housing in Bansko? Of course, on Booking.com

You will find Bansko 160 km from the capital of Bulgaria. From the capital's airport you can take a taxi to the bus station, and from there, for little money, take a bus to the ski resort. Travel time is up to three hours.

Zakopane in Poland

Poiana Brasov in Romania

According to vacationers, the resort is surrounded by a coniferous forest, and the ancient city of Brasov is located nearby. Here you will find 12 tracks with a total length of 14 km, dozens of jumps and modern chairlifts. You will like the town with its excellent ecology, nature, clean mountain air and wonderful landscapes. There is a place for both professionals and beginners to ride here.

When I was in Brasov, I made a short video about Count Dracula's castle, which is located nearby. In general, in Romania everything is fine with cool castles - there are a lot of them, and if you are by car, then in addition to skiing there is always something to see. And Brasov itself is not a city, but a fairy tale. I’m still kicking myself for not writing a blog article about this city.

For active recreation there are several artificial skating rinks, horse riding centers, sports grounds, swimming pools and saunas. In addition, the resort's infrastructure is complemented by restaurants and cafes, where you can enjoy national Romanian cuisine and watch vibrant shows of musicians and dancers.

The resort offers vacationers to stay in budget hotels, but remember that the higher the season, the more expensive it is. A holiday with a classic set of standard services will cost you three hundred euros. For a ski pass (week) you will have to pay 60 euros per adult and 39 euros per child.

Reviews: France or Romania?

Many of my friends have vacationed in France before, but I can say right away that the resorts of this country are significantly more expensive than Romanian ones. Despite the fact that the latter are absolutely not inferior in quality to the slopes and lifts. Of course, I won’t judge places where I haven’t been, but still, I recommend you visit Poiana Brasov to form your own impression of this ski resort.

The opening of the ski season is just around the corner... Of course, the question will arise again: where is the best place to go? Which ski slopes are worth visiting this time? Experienced travelers have probably already visited the best ski slopes in Europe and it’s hard to surprise them.

However, they hardly looked into the small, secluded, cozy and quiet inexpensive ski resorts in Europe, which have excellent ski slopes that will be discussed. And in vain - here you will find not only the best conditions for a ski holiday, but also very affordable prices, magnificent family routes, and breathtaking scenery!

Cheap ski resorts in Europe

1. Villar

Villars, Switzerland, one of Europe's budget ski resorts, is just two hours by train from Geneva Airport. Next you need to take a tram to the village of Gryon, which is very convenient for skiers on the weekend. Both Gryon and Villar can offer a large selection of blue and red slopes, which can be enjoyed by both families and inexperienced beginner skiers.

There are not a large number of skiers here; the bulk of ski lovers are concentrated in the Swiss ski resort of Verbier.

2. Arlberg

Arlberg, Austria is a neighbor of the world famous Lech and St. Anton, which are part of the prestigious group of ski resorts "Best in the Alps", uniting 12 European ski centers. Among them are the French Megève, and Kitzbühel (Bavarian Alps), and Davos... At each of these resorts you are guaranteed an exceptionally high-quality vacation all year round!

Arlberg is much less known, a much quieter ski area, but it shares the same Sonnenkopf ski pass, a hidden highland area easily accessible by train and skiing on challenging, inaccessible pistes.

Ski buses departing from Wald can provide you with a friendly introduction to the area, and stay in one of the newly built luxury chalets in the Arlberg, just 10 minutes' drive from Stuben, a bustling large resort with a big name. .

3. Little Tibet, Italy

Another name for the Little Tibet mountain plateau in Italy is Campo Imperatore. This is a still little-known ski area on a 27-kilometer plateau in the province of L'Aquila (also L'Aquila, Italian: Provincia dell "Aquila) in the Abruzzo region.

For the convenience of skiers, the resort has four ski lifts. We recommend staying in a fabulous mountain hotel with an observatory, where once upon a time, during the Second World War, the Italian dictator Mussolini spent his last days in freedom and was captured...

Not far from the mountain slopes of little Tibet there is another small hotel - Nido dell "Aquila, a quiet corner of Italian comfort and delicious cuisine. Prices here are quite reasonable - a double room with breakfast will cost from 60 euros.

Little Tibet is a breathtaking secluded ski resort where you can spend not only a winter weekend in silence against the backdrop of nature, but also a great rest throughout the season...

And do not confuse Campo Imperatore with Livigno, which is also sometimes called Little Tibet...

4. Borovets

Borovets could be your first ski adventure in Bulgaria! Few people know that in this former socialist country the structure of European-style ski resorts is already quite developed. Borovets is considered one of the best. It has well-groomed ski slopes, magnificent tracks that seem to be created for winter forest adventures, and for those who have not yet learned to ski, there is a good ski park.

You can stay in one of the best hotels in the resort - Rila. A week's holiday with hotel accommodation, half board, transfer, and payment for equipment rental will cost about 500 euros.

Ski Borovets is a great place for beginner skiers.

5. La Morte

La Morte in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is now called Alpe du Grand Serre and is located 50 minutes from Grenoble.

Why this name? -you ask... The thing is that two dark mountain slopes near a mountain village are very reminiscent of the body of a lying dead woman...

La Morte has the status of a family ski resort, it is much cheaper and faster to get here than the more fashionable ones - Alpe d'Huez (French Alpe d'Huez), the largest ski resort in the French Alps, or Les des Alpes (French Les Deux Alpes) in the center of the Oisans alpine massif.

For obvious reasons, the resort changed the ghostly name La Morte (dead (woman)) to L "Alpe du Grand Serre (translated as the Great Alpine Greenhouse). Alpe du Grand Serre is a medium-sized ski resort, the ski area is located in the northern Alps, in the commune La Morte, at an altitude of 1368 m above sea level.

As professional travelers have long known, one should go to French resorts not only in search of a great holiday, but also for good cuisine. In this La Morte (or Alpe du Grand Serre) will be at its best!

Getting to La Morte is quite simple - either by SNCF train from Grenoble (40 km), or by car to Grenoble, and then in the direction of La Mure, to the Alpe du Grand Serre ski area.

6. Romm Alpin

To get to the ski slopes in Romm Alpin, the easiest way to get to the ski slopes from Stockholm is to rent a car and a 90-minute drive to the north-west will reveal this wonderful winter paradise.

Romme Alpin is a discreet Swedish representative of the best ski resorts in Europe, focused on family holidays. It is located in the small village of Koppslahyttan in Dalarna, 13 km south of Borlänge, and is Sweden's largest ski resort outside the country's mountain ranges.

Construction of the resort began in 1985. A weekend getaway near Stockholm was planned here, the resort was created as a recreation area in a forested area, with mountain slopes the same height as Dalafjällen. Today, one of the largest snow factories in the Northern region operates in Romm Alpin; even in a completely snowless winter, it can put 760 snow cannons into operation and 7,500 cubic meters of snow per hour will be formed in the air at the same time; to transport such an amount of snow-white mass would require as many as 750 trucks !

Since Sweden is a rather cold European country, Romm Alpin can be too frosty at Christmas, but in March or early April the resort is the place for perfect skiing!

7. Mauterndorf

Mauterndorf, Austria is a real mountain village in the federal state of Salzburg, located on the slopes slightly below the huge ski resort of Obertauern. Next to it there are five excellent ski areas, and all are completely different!

Among them, in addition to Mauterndorf itself with its long snow ski runs leading into the valleys, the aforementioned Obertauern with excellent ski coverage and the start of the ski season at the end of November, St. Margarethen, from where you can use the ski lifts to move to the ski area the mountain pass Katschberg Pass area, where families love to ride, the charming Fanningberg, where you need to go a little lower, passing through the clouds that cover Obertauern with fog from prying eyes.

About 245 thousand tourists come to Mautendorf on holiday every year. They love to attend the annual medieval festival, take part in the famous street processions of the biblical Samson, and in winter enjoy skiing with their families in the Grosseck-Speiereck ski area.

In the resort of Mauterndorf itself, right in the village there are quite good hotels, cozy bars and traditional Austrian restaurants.

Mostly the local population skis and relaxes here; the atmosphere at the resort is very friendly and relaxed. The height of the ski slopes in Auron is 1600 m, the ski resort boasts an excellent service infrastructure - shops, cafes and restaurants, ski equipment rental, a cinema and a gym for après ski.

For those wishing to visit Auron, its ski slopes offer not only skiing, but also stunning landscape views to enjoy the southern Alps. And the French Riviera is very close - just a stone's throw, 1.5 hours by bus and you are in Nice...

If you're looking for great weekend skiing, try Trysil, Norway. The resort's quiet ski slopes, excellent ski trails - 71 km of skiing on four different sites, including night skiing, plus the possibility of extreme sports on a large black slope at an angle of 45 degrees...

The highest point of the ski slope is at an altitude of 1100 m. You have to pay 45 euros per day for a ski pass; the resort is easily accessible by renting a car from the airport in Oslo.

We recommend staying at the Radisson Blu hotel - a double room will cost from 150 euros, but the service is beyond praise - swimming pools, a spa, a gym, restaurants and bars, bowling and free parking for cars.
