Goa for tourists: practical information and tips. Holidays in India: when, where and why Best photos of Goa

And the usual poverty outside the tourist areas. India is an ambivalent country, to say the least.

And yet she is beautiful. Its majestic Himalayas make you believe in the existence of parallel worlds, amazing beauty the nature of the state of Kerala strikes you to the very heart, and the mystical sacrament of religious rites near the sacred Ganges plunges you into a trance. India is stunning with anthill cities, where everything mixes in a crazy cocktail: people, religions, languages, customs and smells.

When to go

Old Delhi and the capital New Delhi are thousands of monuments from different eras: mosques, Hindu temples, mausoleums, colonial-style villas. In huge shopping centers You can “shop” to your heart’s content, and in restaurants with gourmet cuisine you can appreciate the skill of the chefs.

Jaipur has absolutely incredible Mughal-era palaces built from pink sandstone. In Agra and the surrounding area, in addition to the famous Taj Mahal, it is interesting to look at the Red Fort of the 16th century with features of Islamic and Hindu architecture and Fatehpur Sikri - the ancient capital of the empire of Akbar I the Great.

One of the most powerful tourist magnets is Mumbai with its famous Dharavi slums, the Bollywood dream factory and the Buddhist cave monastery of Kanheri. To visit Bombay is to discover India in all its diversity.

In the Himalayas you can see fantastic snowy peaks stretching into space, thousand-year-old temples with monasteries and people still living in past centuries. The most popular destination mountainous India - border Sikkim, surrounded national parks. This is an excellent place for cycling, trekking and rafting.

Where to enlighten and heal

Hinduism is extremely popular outside of India. Foreigners believe that if they can comprehend the wisdom of this religion, they will reveal the secrets of existence or at least find peace of mind. To improve their health, people go to Ayurvedic resorts in Kerala and Karnataka. There is “light” Ayurveda, when liberties in food and even entertainment are allowed, and there is a “hard” option - strict adherence to the doctor’s instructions, a strict routine, almost drill. But they say it's worth it.

For the quintessence of Hinduism, head to the banks of the Ganges in Varanasi. The less impressionable can stroll to the embankment and watch the funeral pyres burn and the deceased be seen off on their last journey. For the rest, it’s better to limit yourself to a tour of the temples, which are countless here.

Good afternoon dear friends!

How to get to Goa, when is the season and what currency is in use, do you need a visa, how much money to take with you, safety, where to eat, which resort to choose and what to see - I tried to collect all the information that interests people before their vacation. Read a short guide to the resort - Goa for tourists.

In this article I will answer the main questions that arise among tourists who look towards this place for the first time. There will be no information here for people who go to the resort in pursuit of informal movements; I myself do not belong to this category. This article is for those who just want to relax and enjoy warm sea and local flavor.

I’ll say right away that for Russian tourists, the resort of Goa has become a popular destination quite recently, so the living conditions and surrounding infrastructure can be a real shock for those coming for the first time. Especially for those who are accustomed to European service, which, if encountered, is rather the exception rather than the rule for this resort. Therefore, I highly recommend that before going to a new place, read a little about Goa. Then there will be no spoiled holiday and no bad impressions.

Do you need a visa?

To visit India, and Goa is its state, a Russian tourist will have to obtain a visa. For residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg, it is produced within a week; for other regions, the period can take up to 20 days. The easiest way is to apply for an electronic visa. But for this you need to submit documents through an online service (the most popular http://onlinevc.ru/visa/indiya.html). The cost of an electronic visa is 5800 rubles. You can save money and go to the embassy yourself, in which case the visa will cost 1,850 rubles.

When is the best time to relax?

Unfortunately, the beach season in Goa is very short. You can relax here comfortably only from December to March. The best month for vacation is January.

Goa is a wonderful resort for beach holiday. However, there are distinct dry and wet seasons. And if you can safely relax even in the low season, then there is absolutely nothing to do in Goa at this time. Moreover, with the onset of monsoon rains, the entire tourism infrastructure of the state closes. The beaches are becoming uninhabited, all beach communities are being dismantled.

Which resort should you choose?

The state is divided into two parts South Goa and North Goa.

Holidays in the southern part are considered expensive for tourists. More respectable hotels are located here. Clean areas with developed infrastructure attract many foreign tourists. The beaches are more comfortable and less crowded. It’s great to relax here with children, because there are few noisy beach parties, and vacationers with informal views and behavior are rare. South Goa is more suitable for tourists looking for a quiet, comfortable holiday in good conditions.

North Goa is perfect for active holidaymakers. Here life does not stop even after sunset; night shows and trance parties are constantly held on the beach. The north is always noisy and crowded. By choosing a holiday in the north, you can significantly save on living costs. There are a lot of cheap guest houses here, no one will be shocked to see you spending the night on the beach. A free ascetic life is welcomed here.

What money should I take?

The official currency of India is the Indian Rupee. Exchange Russian rubles to Goa tourist impossible. Payment by credit cards is not developed here. This opportunity is only available in large stores and hotels. In inexpensive guest houses and small shops, you won’t be able to pay by card.

ATMs are rare, only one or two per village. They are usually located in the center; you have to walk quite a distance from the coast. When withdrawing cash from an ATM, a commission of 1-5% is charged, depending on your bank. However, keep in mind that there is a limit on cash withdrawals from ATMs. You can withdraw no more than 5,000 rupees at a time, and no more than 40,000 rupees in one day. The rate also depends on the bank.

It's better to bring dollars. You can exchange at bank offices or at exchange offices, of which there are also few. Exchange services are often offered in hotels. The exchange rate is inflated, but you can bargain with them.

It’s more reliable with a card, but you can’t pay with it everywhere, and withdrawing cash is not profitable, and there are not enough ATMs. Cash is the most convenient, but there is a risk of theft from tourists; hotel rooms with flimsy locks and safes are a rarity. It's up to you to decide.

How to get around?

The cheapest way to travel to Goa is by bus; they run along tourist areas; the ticket price is fixed and depends on the distance of the trip (4-20 rupees). However, keep in mind that local residents They behave quite noisily and emotionally, and the buses are often overcrowded.

Tourists most often travel to Goa by rickshaws (100-200 rupees), and for longer distances they take a taxi ($50 for the whole day). Many people prefer to rent a bike. This service is common here, the rental cost is 200-400 rupees per day, the only documents you need are a photocopy of your passport. You can rent bicycles from hotels and on the beach (50-100 rupees).

Is it worth renting a car?

In India, traffic is on the left. All roads in Goa, with the exception of the central highway, are two-lane and very narrow, with no shoulders. The traffic is quite intense and chaotic. From the series “I eat as I want.” Therefore, if you decide to rent a car, be careful. Accidents often happen to tourists driving.

Renting a car is not very common among tourists. This is due to the complex movement and opacity of insurance. As a rule, cars are taken from a private person. To rent you will need a license, a photocopy of your passport and money, approximately 800-1000 rupees per day. If they ask for a deposit or an original passport, don’t agree, look elsewhere.

It's up to you to decide whether to rent a car or not. The main thing is to correctly calculate your strengths and weigh all the pros and cons of this decision.

Where to eat?

There are no fancy restaurants or international chains like McDonald's in Goa. However, at any resort in the state there are many places where you can have a delicious meal. As a rule, these are cozy cafes in the center of villages or small cafes along the entire coast. The prices are reasonable (400-600 rupees for a hearty lunch for two with alcohol), the range consists of ordinary Indian dishes. Recently, due to the influx of Russian tourists, almost every cafe has a menu in Russian. Most often, rice prepared in different ways, chicken, and a wide variety of seafood are offered.

How much money should I take?

How much money you will need for a vacation in Goa largely depends on where in the state you are vacationing. I already wrote above that South Goa is a more expensive resort. Holidays in the Northern part will be much cheaper. I would put the price ratio at 2:1.

  • If you are content with just the beach and don’t drink a lot of alcohol, 250-300 dollars will be enough for 10 days for two.
  • If you are planning an excursion, renting a bike, or prefer expensive meals in a cafe, 400-700 dollars for the same period.
  • You can take $1,500 and manage to spend it on a local babysitter, renting a car with a driver, etc.

Security measures

  • Hindus are very peace-loving people. If they are looking at you, they are more likely to experience healthy curiosity, and not intend to cause any harm. However, I would not recommend women to walk in dark streets at night.
  • Do not leave phones and wallets unattended on the beach.
  • You need to be very careful when swimming in the sea. The waves often knock you off your feet, and the undercurrents are so strong in some places that even a strong man finds it difficult to stay on his feet.
  • You should not drink tap water. I also do not recommend drinking alcoholic cocktails; they can be diluted with the same water.
  • Wash your hands frequently, especially before eating, as Goa's climate encourages the rapid growth of germs.
  • If possible, get basic vaccinations against typhoid, hepatitis and diphtheria before traveling.
  • While still at home, write down the emergency phone numbers, you may need them.

What to see?

The state is not rich in attractions. In old Goa there is St. Catherine's Cathedral, it is interesting to visit the Aguada Ford and see the Dudhsagar waterfall.

The main historical sites are located in other states of India. You can go there, but the road to get there is long and tiring. The trip will take several days. I will not describe all the excursions, you can find out more on the resource http://rossyanka.ru/.

Goa is an interesting and promising resort. There is a friendly atmosphere, magnificent sandy beaches with a smooth entry into the water, a warm and clean Arabian Sea, excellent sunny weather during the season and a fairly budget-friendly level of accommodation. And most importantly, you can come here in winter.

Now I say goodbye to you for a while, see you soon!

Mysterious and wise India is a great holiday on the beaches of Goa and Kerala, colorful Delhi and the soaring Himalayas, the treasures of the Golden Triangle and the ancient secrets of Ayurveda, rave discos and yoga tours. Photos, visa, road, maps and hotels - everything about India from the Subtleties of Tourism.

India is one of the most amazing countries in South Asia. Cradle ancient civilization, the birthplace of Buddhism and Hinduism, today it ranks second on the planet in terms of population and continues to fall in love with travelers hungry for incredible discoveries.

India is mysterious, unlike any other place on earth. Fireworks of colors and aromas, a kaleidoscope of traditions, sometimes shocking, but remaining untouchable from time immemorial. Majestic palaces, ancient temples and other ceremonial attractions coexist with rickety shacks and noisy bazaars - there is no wealth here, but there is life. And in the background there are magnificent landscapes: Mountain peaks, jungle, beaches - the local nature is generous in beauty. People come here for enlightenment: in isolation from the Western bustle, you begin to look at the world with different eyes. And here they sunbathe under the gentle sun, conquer the obstinate waves, have fun at fashionable resorts, and comprehend the true meaning of yoga. India, with all its traditions and history of 5000 years, fits perfectly into modern reality.

Visa and customs

Russians need a visa to visit India: single, double or multiple, valid for 3 or 6 months. It is officially impossible to extend your visa while in the country. In addition, it is worth taking out a health insurance policy in advance for the entire duration of the trip.

A trick for those flying to Goa: permission for a 15-day stay in the state can be obtained right at the airport, having previously agreed on the details with a local travel agency.

The import of currency is not limited; amounts from 5,000 USD in cash or from 10,000 USD together with checks and securities must be declared. How to get to India

The cheapest and fastest flights to Cochin from Moscow are with Air Arabia (360 USD, 10 hours via Sharjah), Scandinavian Airlines and Qatar Airlines fly from St. Petersburg with two transfers (428 USD, 32 hours via Stockholm and Doha ). The same tandem is lucky from Northern capital to Trivandrum (360 USD, 16 hours with connections in Moscow and Doha), it is more convenient for Muscovites to fly with Air Arabia for 370 USD one way (11 hours via Sharjah).

Search for flights to India

Transport

The most comfortable and fastest way to travel around the country is by plane. Domestic flights are carried out by Indigo, Go Air, Jet Airways, Spice Jet and other carriers. Sometimes they offer excellent prices: for example, you can fly from the capital to Mumbai with Go Air for 7,500 INR and a 2-hour journey. But in most cases it is cheaper to travel by train (long distances) or bus (short distances). By railway It is more profitable to travel on 2nd class trains with air conditioning and two types of carriages: 4 and 6 people per compartment.

A special train with air-conditioned carriages, the Taj Express, runs between Delhi and Agra: it leaves the capital in the morning and returns in the evening. Tickets - 5800 INR in 1st class, 1600 INR in 2nd class.

At the main stations largest cities and in international airports there are separate “windows” or even halls for selling tickets to foreigners under a special quota (usually for dollars, with change given in rupees).

The bus network in India is well developed: there are public and private transport companies in every state. The average cost of a 1 km trip on a state bus is from 1 INR. Prices from private carriers depend on the bus class and distance.

Urban transport

Almost all Indian populated areas Shuttle buses run. Opening hours are until 19:30, ticket prices are based on 2-3 INR per 1 km. IN major cities- Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata - there is a subway. A ride on the capital's subway costs 15-60 INR depending on the distance.

Taxis in India are either public or private. The first - with a fixed fee according to the meter or prepayment at special cash desks. Secondly, you can and should bargain, bringing down up to 50% of the price announced by the driver. The average taxi fare is 8-12 INR per 1 km, a transfer from the airport to Delhi is 350-450 INR, to Goa - from 700 INR and above.

Motorized rickshaws, or tuk-tuks, are an exotic, fast and convenient way to get around the city. And quite affordable: 2-2.5 times cheaper than a regular taxi. A pedicab is an option suitable only for a sightseeing walk around the city: the speed is a snail's pace, there is no convenience. And if the passenger is “in the body”, they are not pulled up the hill at all, you have to get out and walk alongside. Another authentic transport is tempo, an analogue of Thai songthaew: pickup trucks with two wooden benches in the back. You can ride them for 30 INR.

One day in India

Rent a Car

In short: it’s better not to. There are several reasons, one more significant than the other: firstly, the roads are narrow (albeit in good condition), and markings and road signs are sometimes absent. Secondly, the traffic is very dense almost around the clock; ox-drawn carts, motorcycles, and people move in the general flow; Various representatives of the local fauna regularly appear on the canvas. And last but most importantly, Indian drivers do not follow even the minimum traffic rules. To top it all off, driving in India is on the left hand side. Therefore, to travel around the country it is better to rent a car with a driver. It's not too expensive, but it's safe.

The most popular means of transportation in India are motorcycles and scooters. Very convenient considering the traffic density. The average cost of renting a scooter is 200-400 INR per day, and no one canceled the bargaining, especially if the rental period is more than a week. Required documents: international passport and driver's license.

Communications and Wi-Fi

In India, you can significantly save on telephone calls if you use the services of local mobile operators. It is not difficult to purchase a SIM card: to do this, you need to present your international passport and one 3x4 color photo (since there is practically no place to take a photo on site, it is better to take the photo with you). Mobile communications do not yet cover the entire territory of India, but the situation is changing quickly. The most popular operators are Idea, Reliance, Vodafone and Airtel. The average cost of prepaid SIM cards is 200-300 INR. Incoming calls are free, outgoing within one state - 0.72-1.50 INR, to other states - 1-2 INR, to Russia - about 20-25 INR per minute.

An important point for those who plan to travel around India: you can top up your card only in the state in which it was purchased.

You can also make international calls from STD/ISD payphones installed on Indian streets. The duration and cost of the call are displayed on electronic displays. Calls are ordered through an operator and cost 5-15 INR per minute.

Internet connection is developed only in resorts and in big cities. It is most reasonable to connect to an Internet cafe for 75 INR per hour (upon presentation of a passport or a copy of it). Free Wi-Fi is almost rare: access is available only at airports and the largest restaurants or hotels.

Goa is a state of delight, where whole families come “for the winter” or, having simply visited once, return again and again.

Attractions

Tourists usually begin their acquaintance with Goa at Dabolim Airport in the city of Vasco da Gama. The city is named after the famous navigator. The Portuguese heritage is well preserved in this Indian state and tourists will always find something to see.

Both have their own set of attractions. Excursion routes are organized to all attractions; they are easily accessible from any corner of Goa.

For example, in Old Goa(city in) beautiful cathedrals, ruins of churches and narrow streets have been preserved. In Panaji, the capital of Goa, you should definitely wander through the old Fontainhas district and see the architectural complex of Largo da Igreja. The Portuguese forts of Aguada and Alorna are also at the top of the list of Goa attractions. The Aguada fortress is located on the outskirts of Candolim beach - after sunbathing and swimming, you can look at this ancient stronghold.

On Wednesdays and Fridays in Goa there are grandiose markets. On Friday you need to go to Mapusa to bargain and buy colorful items of clothing, souvenirs, painted plates, spices, incense and a lot of what your heart desires. There is a flea market in Anjuna - it opens every Wednesday early in the morning and bustles until sunset.

The largest Christian temple in Asia is the cathedral St. Catherine's Cathedral (Old Goa). The relics of the Baptist of Asia, Saint Francis, can be seen in the Basilica of Jesus, one of the most famous churches not only in Goa but in the whole of India.

The most popular excursions in Goa are in Savoy spice garden and to the waterfalls. Spice plantations are not only interesting, but also very educational, and also delicious, because every tourist is sure to be fed dishes generously seasoned with curry and aromatic herbs. There are a lot of spice plantations in Goa; Savoy is located 23 km from the state capital of Panaji. Dudhsagar Falls Throws down streams of water from a height of more than 300 meters! It is also called the “milk ocean” - for the white color of the water. The waterfall is located in the eastern part of Goa and can be reached in a few hours by bus.

In the Cotigao Nature Reserve you can wander through a multi-story jungle. The reserve is located 12 km from the beach in.

There are many centers in Goa Ayurveda, where you can create your own healing program with medicinal herbs, massage and drugs based on natural ingredients.

Transport

Most tourists rent bike and travel around the outskirts of the state. To rent, you will need to leave a deposit in foreign currency (from 60 to 200 dollars). A driver's license is rarely required. Traffic in Goa, as throughout India, is chaotic, so we recommend brushing up on your driving skills in advance and being extremely careful on the roads. There are almost no gas stations in Goa; gasoline can be bought secondhand at roadside stalls and shops (sold in ordinary water bottles).

Those who do not risk riding a bike in India use the services Taxi. Taxis are quite expensive, all areas are divided between taxi drivers. Almost no one has meters.

Another option for moving between Goa resorts is bus. This service is very developed in India; buses call even in the most remote villages. Travel there is very cheap (from 5 to 40 rupees), and locals enjoy using it. The fee depends on the distance of the trip. The buses are old, have no air conditioning, and the windows are protected by bars (from monkeys).

There is no direct connection between the resorts of Goa; you need to go with a transfer at a bus station (in Mapusa, Panaji or Margao). The buses do not have numbers; the route is written in the local language, but conductors and drivers loudly announce the direction at the stops. By the way, there are no stops in the usual sense; the bus stops anywhere on demand. Bus intervals are on average once every 15 minutes.

A trip on an Indian bus is like an attraction - a bright old bus rushes through the jungle to Indian music, the conductor jokes with the passengers, women in bright saris laugh...

Bus stations in Goa

Souvenirs

Most of the souvenirs that tourists bring from their trips to Goa are ethnic. People often buy saris (national Indian women's clothing) and bloomers (loose pants), textiles (bed linen, bedspreads, towels), jewelry with gems, incense sticks, and henna. Spices, toothpaste with red pepper, and natural cosmetics from the Hymalaya brand would be a good souvenir. Sandalwood and ebony deity figurines start at $3.

Popular dishes include lamb stewed in milk with curry, meatballs in spicy yogurt, and chicken in orange sauce with herbs. famous for its abundance of vegetarian dishes, such as rice cakes and curried lentil dumplings (dosa and samba). Vegetables are served with curry and rice.

Seafood and fish are incredibly popular in Goa. The fish is fried over a fire, baked in dough, stewed in yogurt with curry... Try mailai - shrimp with the same curry and coconut. Dhai - curdled milk with spices - is a great refreshing drink in the heat. Alcohol is sold freely in Goa; local moonshine called “feni” is made here - this is fermented coconut and cashew juice.

Good to know

  • All tourists fly to Dabolim Airport. The flight from Moscow takes approximately 7.5 hours.
  • Goa time is 2.5 hours ahead of Moscow.
  • The Indian dialect Konkani, Portuguese and English are spoken in Goa.
  • Sockets in Goa are no different from Russian ones.
  • The currency in Goa, as elsewhere in India, is the rupee. There are 100 paise in one rupee. In August 2017, the exchange rate of the rupee and the ruble was approximately the same: for 1 ruble they gave 1 rupee and 6 paise.
  • From India to Russia, no more than 3 liters of alcohol per person over 18 years of age can be exported duty-free, up to 5 liters - with payment of a duty.
  • Wash vegetables and fruits purchased at markets thoroughly. Drink only bottled water.

The busiest and most bustling of the quiet resorts in southern Goa is Colva, the oldest and largest resort, which retains a colonial style replete with fishermen's huts. The most crowded is the central beach. The “highlight” of Kolva is the seaside restaurants standing on stilts - like huts on chicken legs. The food here is amazing and there's also some nightlife at Ziggys and Splash. Among vacationers in Colva, young people and couples without children prevail, although other categories are also found.

Majorda

The most exotic resort in South Goa, the local beaches are surrounded by coconut palms and other strange plants. Holidays in Majorda are calm, but not devoid of activity. Here you can ride on water devices, play tennis, volleyball, and also try the fish of your choice. Be sure to try the baked goods; they are made here according to ancient recipes - using coconut milk.

The narrowest resort in South Goa, but also the most respectable. Celebrities, politicians and oligarchs like to relax here, including Bill Clinton and Paul McCartney. Of course, the location of the resort is a spit of white beaches, surrounded by water on three sides. Most establishments in Mobor can be safely classified as luxury.

In a sense, it is a “brother” of Mobor, where mostly respectable people relax. It’s quiet, cozy here, dolphins come to visit you, you can go on a boat to the sea and taste the freshest seafood that fishermen will catch before your eyes. Tourists also have the opportunity to go fishing themselves and then order dinner prepared from their own catch.

Palolem

This resort is called the “pearl” of the state. Fluffy sand, a calm sea - warm like fresh milk, an abundance of palm trees lining the beaches, nice people from all over the world - all this makes you come back here again and again. Due to the popularity of Palolem, it can hardly be called secluded, but it is still quieter here than in the north of Goa. In addition, there is a chance to go trekking, diving, canyoning and snorkeling, as well as communicate with dolphins (however, you will have to ask local sailors to take you to the dolphins by boat, but the residents of Palolem readily agree, because such a “trick” is their pride).

This part of the state of Goa is the most developed in terms of entertainment, dating, leisure activities and excursions. In the 70s, this area was called a mecca for hippies. Although those days have passed, the resort area has acquired a different appearance and has become more comfortable, however, the majority of tourists arriving in North Goa are young people who love drive, fun, intense relaxation and nightlife. Tourists vary in income level, but agree on the main thing - preferences. There are older vacationers - former hippies, creative personalities and other lovers of life on the move. Join us, it will be interesting and fun.

The most Russian resort in India, jokingly called the “Russian village”. And this, in fact, is true - almost 80% of vacationers in Morjim are Russians, and some of them live here on a permanent basis, subsisting on rental housing in their homeland. Why is the resort so popular among compatriots? Why not? Large and still moderately crowded sandy beaches (without rocks), a gently sloping entrance to the sea suitable for children, a warm atmosphere (there are many couples with babies here), no fuss, excellent and inexpensive kitchen, as well as the opportunity to windsurf - what else is needed to turn life into a constant holiday?!

If you love partying, then you need to head to Arambol, which is the “epicenter” of entertainment for hippies, freaks, junkies and other outrageous youth. Here you can watch and show various performances right on the street, arrange themed gatherings, and do yoga (the local famous yoga center, by the way, belongs to one of our compatriots). The local beach is long, you can find very secluded corners. Housing is budget, mostly bungalows. Arambol has a 24-hour party scene, but you will have to look for drinking, dancing, and luxury rooms at neighboring resorts. However, what happens here is much more interesting.

Mandrem

“Neighbor” Arambol is a quiet “oasis”, where mostly married couples with children and parents relax. This is facilitated by the gentle entrance, the absence of rocks and stones on the beaches, ideal cleanliness and spacious coastline. There is good infrastructure here: there is a market, an exchange office, a pharmacy, cozy restaurants. Many tourists who arrive in Tandem are fond of meditation. If you want a dance party, head to neighboring Anjuna or Vagator (the road along the sea will take no more than 20 minutes one way).

Calangute, which was once (in the 60s) a leader among its kind, closes the top three hippie resorts. You won’t find tranquility here, but there are more than enough extraordinary acquaintances, meditation, yoga, massage. There are also karate courses. However, Calangute is famous not only for relaxation sessions; here you can also “have a blast” at a disco, buy souvenirs (merchants at every turn), and also enjoy amazing Indian cuisine. Don’t expect much comfort - there are few hotels, the beach is not pristine, but staying in a bungalow or guesthouse will cost moderately, and you will have plenty of money left over for entertainment and shopping. For young people - just the thing!

This resort is located in the center North Goa and is famous primarily for its dance focus. Despite the imperfections of the local coast (rocks, steep descent into the sea, dark sand), Vagator is loved by many, because it is especially beautiful here, nature seems frozen in a wild state and there are few people. The accommodation at the resort is comfortable, the restaurants serve wonderful food, you can dance until you drop - why not, if you are energetic, love everything unusual and want to recharge yourself with vivid impressions?!

Anjuna is actually Vagator's "twin". There are also not the most best beaches, but fun, a lot of dancing, fun, laughter and unusual emotions. This is one of the rare Indian resorts where you can see a Goa trance party. There are moderate tourists in Anjuna, you can even find secluded places on the fluffy sand. Except for Wednesdays, when traders and tourists from virtually all over the state come to the village to stock up on souvenirs, clothes and other goods at the famous Flimarket, the largest in Goa.

The resort abounds with married couples with heirs, because there are comfortable living conditions and there are nannies who entertain children of all ages. Meanwhile, local bungalows and villas are no less popular than large hotels. Aguada is beautiful, cozy, has a good beach and you can stroll through a tropical garden, but nightlife is a little difficult, so you’ll have to go to neighboring resorts.

The least crowded resort in North Goa, but that doesn’t mean it’s cheap. There is little accommodation at the resort, so even renting a bamboo hut will charge you a decent amount. As they say, you have to pay for silence. Those who want to enjoy privacy, fluffy sand of an unusual dark color, picturesque landscape and local idyll - more than enough, local authorities do not keep up with the pace in terms of hotel construction. Often tourists who love Ashvem act wisely by making a knight's move - they live in neighboring villages and come here to relax on the beach. You can follow their example. The highlight of Ashvem beaches is the white tents with comfortable sofas, where you can enjoy Ayurveda, massage during the day, and parties in the evening.

Sinquerim is known for the oldest beach in Goa, which has been given the status of a nature reserve. However, its venerable age does not prevent the beach from always maintaining its “brand”, for example, offering water entertainment at the level of respectable European resorts. If you want to lie around like seals, and if you want to get in shape and recharge your drive, you can go surfing, snorkeling, diving, parasailing, and also play volleyball. The service in Sinquerim is impeccable, the infrastructure is impressive, but the prices are appropriate. The beach is not very wide (due to the advance of sand on the shore from under the famous sunken River Princess), but it is comfortable, quiet, and uncrowded. However, experienced travelers claim that the local authorities will soon deal with the ship.

They say that the beach in Candolim is the most beautiful in Goa. The resort abounds with decent hotels, shops and restaurants - more expensive than in neighboring resorts. But you don’t mind paying more for such a service, you’ll see for yourself. Relaxing here is a special pleasure, because there is a chance to “meet” dolphins. Candolim is said to be more similar in atmosphere to South Goa. There are plenty of married couples with children, but due to the steepness of the descent to the water, parents with small toddlers choose other villages. The highlight of Candolim is a crystal clear pond with huge red lotus flowers. The most beautiful vacation photos are taken in this place. Try it yourself!

Baga

Baga is the “cradle” of local tourism, since it was here that the first vacationers who came from other countries appeared in the 20s of the last century. True, then most of them were hippies, but now they are travelers of different backgrounds and ages. The range of prices offered by locals for accommodation and food is encouraging: you can find both budget options and luxury services. Baga is famous for its fish restaurants, as well as French and Italian cuisine. One of the most exciting entertainments in Baga is the nightly fish barbecue, and the fish used is freshly caught from the sea. The resort is also good in terms of shopping, at least in comparison with its “brothers”. Every Saturday evening there is a fair in Baga. It cannot be called the largest in Goa, but you can find exclusive souvenirs and replenish your wardrobe with colorful outfits. The beach in Baga can hardly be called large, but a wonderful river flows through the village, in which you can also swim. The children adore her. And experienced tourists strongly advise parents to visit one of the state's old-time disco clubs - the Tito's nightclub, which appeared almost 45 years ago and has not lost its popularity to this day.

Which Goa resort did you like it? Or maybe you want to travel around several or even all? It’s your right, you definitely won’t have to regret this decision, you’ll see!
