Story

The Kurgan Institute of Railway Transport (KIZHT) was founded on December 1, 2005 in the city of Kurgan on the basis of the order of the Government of the Russian Federation N 2096-r and the order of the Federal Agency for Railway Transport N 241 on the merger of the Kurgan College of Railway Transport with the UrGUPS branch in Kurgan.

In 1926, a brigade apprenticeship school (BAS) was opened to train locomotive drivers and mechanics for repairing steam locomotives. In connection with the construction of the second track from Chelyabinsk to Omsk and the Shadrinsky section, a need arose for construction workers. Stroyuch began to prepare them. In 1931, the FZU (railway) was formed, and since 1932, the Educational Combine has united these educational institutions. They were later liquidated due to the completion of construction work.

In December 1935, the Kurgan Technical School opened, where 150 students began studying: locomotive drivers, station attendants, and railway workers. In 1941, railway school N5 opened its doors to students; in 1943, it received N1, which it retained until its reorganization in 2000 into the Kurgan Technical School of Railway Transport.

Kurgan Institute of Railway Transport is a branch that is a separate structural unit of the Ural State University of Transport, located and permanently performing part of its functions in the city of Kurgan. Today the institute is a modern educational institution with a good material and technical base, a professional teaching staff, faculties of higher and secondary vocational education.

The Kurgan Institute of Railway Transport is located on a territory with a total area of ​​1.5 hectares. Academic buildings are located in four separate buildings, connected by warm passages. There is a training ground on the territory of the institute.

Activists of the cultural center "Youth" are organizers of interesting student events.
